Exhaust fitted today… Sounds much better. We tried it with the DB reader the garage had. The car was parked the opposite direction than it is in the photo and between the van and the grey car. It then sat at 5250 rpm, it was reading around 96 -98. It did blip over 99 a couple of times for a second or so but I'm hoping the fact that it was tested in a confined space this might account for the extra Db. How do they test it on iva. Do they test it from idle all the way to 3/4 of max engine speed which I worked out at 5250 rpm or is it just at 3/4 max engine speed? The garage were very good and said if I have any issues on sound they will sort it out and get another box as I had from the start explained that it needed to be under 99Db for the test. They stated most people ask them for louder exhausts even when they advise against it. Anyway here's some photo's Also got the wheels fully aligned.. they were slightly out before…

That really is one nicely packaged exhaust under the car and an even better outlet. Very nice indeed.
It would be very nice if it would work on a mk 2.5

It would be very nice if it would work on a mk 2.5 Cheers.. more luck with regards to the 3 hole outlet as they apparently don't make it anymore and I doubt I would find another one. It had been sat on their display shelf for the past 7 years just waiting for me to come along. Jon, the guy that made the system up stated, it was meant to be as he had never found anything else that it would look good on. I think he was more pleased than me. His workmanship was first class. No reason it wouldn't work on a 2.5 although I had a bit more space as I'm not not running a Cat on my car. I'll add a video later tonight if I get a chance.

Chris, A1 exhaust, very neat, love the routing around the diff casing. Lovely sound to the exhaust note.
Best exhaust on a Exocet to date in my opinion. Want next on your build?

Won't you need a cat on a 1994 donor? I thought 1992 was the year they brought in the requirement for cats.

Won't you need a cat on a 1994 donor? I thought 1992 was the year they brought in the requirement for cats. No Cars after 31 July 1995 must be fitted with a Cat. Cars that pre date this date how ever do not require a cat unless there is an exact match in the emissions data book. As the Exocet is a kit car there will be no exact match as after all they are testing a MEV Exocet not an MX5. Here is the flow chart and how my car sits within it. I have checked this with all three iva examiners at Southampton as I didn't want to pay a few hundred quid on the exhaust only to be told I had misinterpreted the flow chart. No Cat needed on any kit car registered on or before 31st July 1995.

John that is very high praise indeed.. If only I had fabricated it as well. Front wing stays and exhaust heat shield next.

Been buying a few small parts to try and finish my build.. If like me you don't want to fit the rather bulky MX5 centre mirror but also don't want to spend a small fortune for a new one from one of the kit car part suppliers then you might be interested in this one that I have found. It is new and only cost £6.75 including p&p. It's from a series 2 Land Rover.

That's definitely news to me regarding the Cat as I thought it was pre 92. Happy days I will be leaving my decat on then as my donor was 93. As others have said your exhausts looks fantastic I an very jealous. Will be interested to see what you do regarding heat shield for exhaust. I have my mirror bolted to the bonnet but you do get quite a bit of vibration so hard to see out of

If you plan to fit a fly screen - consider mounting the mirror closer to the back edge of the bonnet.

Does the IVA specifically require a centre rear view mirror?
I thought you only had to have 2 mirrors on a car to pass the MOT, I have an L200 that doesn't have an interior mirror ( pointless as hardtop on back doesn't have any windows) and that has passed 1MOT and will be going in end March for another.
If one is needed then I might have to rethink my dash plans
