You might want to replace the larger boot onto the trans cover to keep heat down for your wires home.. Make sure you clean that ground spot to the left of the thermo in the pic.. Known problem spot.. Yes I need to get a top rubber seal as well as my old one was in the same condition as the one I just replaced. It's on the list of things to get but I wasn't thinking about heat… I was thinking more about it preventing water / spray from the road getting to the electrics. Cheers for the heads up on the ground point..

Hi Trident,
Really like the perforated infill panels. Could I be so cheeky as to ask where you sourced the perforated sheet.
Many thanks,
Garreth.

Hi Garreth, I got the perforated sheet from Metal Supermarket in Southampton but there are only 6 branches across the country. Here is their link. metalsupermarkets.co.uk/store-finder/Chris

Chassis is back and looks superb. Can't see it in the photos but it really sparkles in the sun light. They did a great job with the chassis number as well. No issues with the IVA inspector reading this. The contrast between the silver tubes and the black panels. It's amazing what a bit of powder coating does.

After having the chassis for so long in bare metal it is really nice to be able to do some work on the car and not get all dirty. I have now fitted the fuel and brake line to the chassis and the floor is ready to be fitted once i get some suitable sealant etc. I have had to make a slight compromise with the brake lines just as I did with the fuel filler point in order to try and keep the already blown budget under some sort of control .. I had said from the start of my build that I was going to fit a full stainless steal braided system. I have fitted new stainless hoses to replace the Mazda rubber ones but have now fitted hard lines to the rest of the car. To run the lines i used some plastic 8mm clips that I got from ebay and used the p-clips supplied with the kit for the brake line which I just fixed to the cassis with a m5 rivnut. Floor ready to fit once I get some sealant/adhesive. I will be fitting some rubber to the inside at a later date so will not cover the panels at this stage. I have fitted some heat shrink over parts of the brake lines so that they don't show out so much. Also offer a bit more protection to the pipe.
When i fitted the brake distribution block some time back when the chassis was fitted I noticed that there wasn't much space for the front brake line to fit as it was very very close to the chassis. My solution was to make a small plate to move the block back slightly. There is now plenty of room for the brake line to fit.
Looking forward now to getting the chassis re-united to the rest of the car and having a floor in it for the first time. Hopefully get that done later this week.

From pic looks like you will have a problem with the E brake cable hitting the brake flex hose right rear..

I thought the exact same thing when I posted the photo… however ….there is loads of room as I haven't changed anything from the original Mazda set up. Just the angle the first photo was taken at.

Must say a big thank you to Andy and Everyone else at Trestan Finishers. www.trestanfinishers.com/acatalog/Powder_Coating.html Got sent these photos today of the process that my chassis went through. If your near Southampton and need anything painted or powder coated you can't go wrong with this company. Top class job and top class service with the personal touch. The process that was carried out on my chassis :
Shot Blast,
Prepare,
Powder Poly Prime,
Prepare & Flat Back,
TLM Silver Powder Coat,
Gloss Lacquer Powder.
Having been shot blasted it was then prepared for the Poly primer. Every nut or rivnut was filled with a rubber bung to prevent the thread getting clogged with the powder coating. You can also just see the blue tape that they used to stop the silver covering the chassis number. Poly primer Flatting Back the Poly Primer stage. Applying the TLM Silver. TLM Silver finish before lacquer The blue tape that was covering the chassis number was then removed and the final clear lacquer was then applied to give a final finish once it was cooked in the oven. Good job my welding on the headlight mount held….

Your welding looks good. In fact, as you have added so much metal, have you considered entering the car in the armoured vehicle section for IVA? Loads of exemptions available.

If i find my self in trouble at the time of IVA then I might take your advice but having driven an armoured land rover I hope my Exocet is faster and handles better. Oh by the way I've now added even more metal ****** THE FLOOR ******
