You seem to be flying past everyone on the track Steve.
Was that an instructor or sinilar in the car with you, seems to know the track well.
Great videos.

You can book an instructor free, each session if you wanted. The next video, i was out on my own, and pushed too hard on the hairpin, missed the apex by 2 feet, then put a back wheel on the grass with spectacular consequences. The first two vids are in A class ( novice ). I move into D class on the next two. That's when it gets daft. Try to out corner a single seater sprint car? only a fool would attempt with an un-setup car.

And the 3rd.
The Atom in front is a supercharged 330hp monster. It WAS having the single seaters off on the straights. It cornered so well too.
Really nice guy of the Atom forum, who's car Is now my benchmark.
The next time we meet.. it shall be different. I shall be driving a set up car, and with a few transmission tweaks.
The atom however was no match for the F1 car, when it warmed up lol!

The instructor is hand signalling, I've got no comms. The last vid, I'm braking at what I thought was my limit, and he's telling me off, saying brake later.
So.. I'll be using some yellow pads, as the blacks faded by the end of the day. Not confidence inspiring.

Looks a very rapid rocket Steve I fell mine may be well under powered. Can't see the third vid at mo would be great to see yours against the atom. 3rd one works ok for me here bud... The mev v atom will be continued. Ive looked at the gents on board footage, and you should hear it.. Its more composed than mine was in the bends. Its low down power delivery was awesome. Deano needs to supercharge his lol TBH, i can make as many excuses as I wanted, but my brakes are stock black ebc's, and my balls arent that big. My suspension is set up with an Iphone, angle iron, and laser pointer. My tracking is done with two tubes. Its ok.. but not good enough. Ive noticed melting of the inner rear right tyre, maybe rear track is set to toe in? the rear is twitchy during a power on/off. My gearbox syncros are shot at, due to previous owners lousy oil use. The oil that was in it, cost 65£, the stuff i drained was the wrong type. Its killed the syncros. Id been trying to combat mech faliure with software. my to do list (winter):- 5kg lightened focus RS flywheel EBC yellowstuff front pads EBC yellow/red rear pads MTX75 box - diesel ratios New Hadron Systems gearbox ECU with clutch actuation Hadron Systems prototype dashboard display - add on to gearbox ecu. Suspension set up by 4 wheel laser alignment to Pauls spec. 750cc fuel injectors - good for 550hp 10mm fuel rails External GRP A bosch fuel pump FSE pressure reg 1:1 Fuel tank mods - baffles, and filler relocation. Solid state sender relocate air filter Boost control to be fitted to DTA Dyno session at WGT Autodynamics Red Top battery Alloy side pods ( lowers ) Fair bit of work, but should be ready for April. Should bring my weight down 15/20kg too with a diet

Looking very promising Steve, what is "Pauls spec" for sus set up? Below are Atom factory settings, not a bad starting point but your car should be lighter and torsionally stiffer than an Atom. The Atom engine could be the old K series so just hang back until his head gasket blows! You can stiffen your suspension but I was always wanting to try ARB's on a Rocket/Sonic, don't think that has been done yet. Result should be similar compliance but less body roll. I would suggest a rear ARB from an MX5 is tried at the front of your car.
Ariel Atom Suspension:
Standard:
Front Camber -30 Toe 1mm toe OUT each side
Rear Camber -45 Toe 1.5mm toe IN each side
Intermediate/Racer
Front Camber -1
Rear Camber -1.25

Funny you should quote atom rigidity... There was an atom on the top deck of a trailer, when the guy backed his other car from underneath, he looked up. The Atom chassis had split through a tube on the underneath. It did not get tracked that day.... Roll bar sounds interesting, however the track itself at aintree is not smooth at 140mph.. Let alone 80. Maybe softer suspension and roll bars would be worth a closer look for future development. Paul's settings are close to Atom spec, with a few tweaks. That atom in the video was the type r engine, so it had vtec scream, and rotrex whine. I'll stick his vid on at some point.

Have now been able to see the 3rd vid. Very considerate of you to entertain the spectators by the pits. Probably made their day.
Glad that you did no damage! Watching your progress with interest.

It was amusing to watch, I first thought it was the change of tarmac which upset the back end, but on the cam footage, you see the apex missed, and that miss puts my line just on the grass. I turned my head left during the slide to pick a spot to put the car An MR2 took the fence out on the opposite side to where I ended up, and it shut the track earlier on. Video 2 shows a twitchy back end, but, very catchable.. You have to find the limits to know where they are. Ill give these cars one thing, they come back inline nicely. After owning and driving numerous MR2's, I was expecting a pendulum effect. But, after blyton and Aintree, if your quick enough, you could achieve spectacular results.
