Well done Andy. You may still find it lively with well worn in tyres in the dry. I do!

Hi Andy
Did you have the side deflectors on and if so did they keep you dry

Hi Kev Yes I did have the side panels on and I think they helped quite a lot, I did have a one piece suit on but from the knee down I was pretty much dry and thats without the front piece of floor in to.

Hi Andy Its good to know the panels help keep you dry as its something i'm looking at adding over the winter. The tR1ke is surprisingly good at keeping you dry when moving. Iv'e driven mine in some heavy rain storms with nothing more than a light jacket and jeans and its only since fitting the high sided seats that the rain hits my upper right leg, so a side panel would hopefully deflect the rain. You have got me thinking about cutting the front part of the floor out, it doesn't do anything on mine other than collect road grit, also the section under the seats doesn't do anything either. I don't think ill be removing the rear bulkhead though as it stops my tent and all the luggage falling out the back when going to the club events.

The panels do add structural strenght to the chasis. For this reason it needs to be rivetted and kitted. I would't open the front floor either, perhaps shielding off the front part of the chasis with perforated plate will do without affecting rad airflow, or an opening in a front bulkhead to unrestrict airflow. That'll keep the floor much cleaner, easy to testfit as well. The need for a mesh in front of the tunnel would not be needed too if one insists to keep the tunnel clean.
br, Erik

I agree that the panels add to structural rigidity but I don't think the small front section does very much and also i think this type of car needs chassis flex to generate grip and as for the flat floor creating down force I'm not convinced at all on that one but that only my opinion :-)

Well I've had the DVLA on the phone today to say I can only have a Q plate as they won't accept the receipts from RTR because it doesn't state the kit was new when I bought it and I don't have a receipt from Yamaha for the engine and that i need an IVA certificate, I did point out that most things you buy don't state if its new or not but she wasn't happy with that. When I filled the paperwork in I phoned them to check I have everything and that time they where very helpfull.
My application has now been canceled and they are sending everything back. Hopefully Paul at RTR can come to the rescue and help me find where I went wrong but to be honest I think its them being awkward.

If you call me tomorrow morning I will talk it through with you. I have a friendly (ish) employee within the DVLA that normally asks us for a covering letter to explain things. This I am more than happy to do and so far we have had no issues once this has been done. Paul Holmes.

Hi all Well I am impatiently waiting for my paperwork from the DVLA but at least it's raining so not so bad. I have however had time to do some essential post test updates, The exhaust now makes a proper noise and is lots lighter and the horrid steering wheel that was miles away has been swapped for a nice small quick release unit that is loads closer.

Great build! Nice two tone coloring. I like your plain and clean interior. Just the items you need, the rest can only be distracting.

Thanks I like simple and I think I need all my concentration on the driving bit so no distractions is safer I reckon :-)

Excellent build Andy,
I reckon you have built the perfect example of how the tR1ke should be, I'm sure you'll have great fun driving it....that is once the dvla stop messing you about.
