Hopefully with the new updates coming to the site uploading pics should be a lot easier.

Can you add some more pics of the reverse system? It is good to see lotsa info now on details on the tR1ke by various builders. Many small details were harder to find in older threads when I started the build. It might be good to gather those boxes in a seperate thread

Got some new cans today from a company called A16. all made to order in the UK (for a change) and only £200 the pair. Original ones were ok but a bit too quiet, so I`m keeping them for track days and mot time. Heres a short video of what they look and sound like new stainless cans from a16

They look and sound great, you just need to fit an external mic for full effect to your on board footage.

Not sure I`m going to make it to Stoneleigh. Battery went flat yesterday and we have just discovered the stator magnets are all broken in to thousands of bits, and its all got in to the engine oil. Not even sure yet how to get it all out, because its magnets its just going to stick to everything. We are just draining the oil to start with, and see how much shrapnel comes out with it. Dont know if its just bad luck or if its been overworked by having a car battery to charge, and reverse gear drawing around 200 amps. definately wont be using reverse gear with the engine running again just in case.

:-( thats's really bad luck indeed. Hope you get it sorted, I too have just spent all weekend fixing what could have been the end of the engine, so fingers crossed for you.

What a disaster im really gutted for you.
You can get the parts used from a breaker but as you say there is a good chance there will be shrapnel inside.
It would be a big gamble running it without taking the sump off for further investigation.
As for the cause...im not sure powering the reverse would do the damage but once up and running again I would use a separate battery for the reverse, i'm surprised you haven't fried the car battery using the reverse.

Sump is now off and bits of shrapnel are everywhere. The strainer on the oil pickup is full of it, but none inside the pickup and none in the oil filter. Will wash the oil filter out with petrol in the morning and see if there are any tiny bits in it
