dont like the sound of this, ive bloody grafted all day. have you got pics of the damage and what you propose?? The wishbone brackets have been thoroughly tested and can handle 400lb/ft of torque without a problem. They are also designed to bend with impact (as Mabbs quite rightly points out, just like an F1 car). This is quite simply to protect the chassis. What might seem like a light tap, especially if it involves a car coming in the opposite direction, can actually generate huge forces. 2 cars travelling at a sedate 30mph towards each other are closing in at a speed of 88ft a second. A collision like this could badly bend a chassis if it were not for the fact that the wishbone mounts and the front wheel/hub/brake assembly attached to them were able to readily bend thus absorbing the impact. Replacement parts are normally available within a few days of placing an order if wishones need to be made, and Fozzy will have his parts with him shortly. RTR.

i never looked at it from that perspective to be honest. but it fully makes sense. i would be much happier buying wishbones than having a chassis repair and re-coat. thanks very much for the reply.
ill get me coat ;D

Very slow coming together on a blind bend with a ford focus - if the lane were 6 inches wider we would have passed each other!

Fossie, is there a possibility the opposite side is damaged as the shock travelled through the steering from the impact? That would explain the deformation. Looks a quick fix anyway, and hopefully it will be the last

my luke seatbelts are the ones which wrap around the roll bar. is anything required to stop them moving from L-R for IVA purposes? just while i still have a bare chassis??
cheers

I have some TRS Magnum seat belts that can wrap round the roll ball as well but I'm sure for the IVA that they need to be fixed with eyebolts with at least an 8.8 rating so I just used some angle iron on the roll bar.
I intend to wrap then round the bar now that the IVA done with.

so you have fixed angle to the bar, bolted in an eye, attached the belt to the eye? mine dont have an option to clip to an eye with my belts
hmm could be an issue

Yes Mate.
I have just used some 12.9 grade bolts I had left over from my suspension to bolt the angle bar onto the holes in the cross bar.
Drilled holes in the flat surface that faces the seat and put the 8.8 eyebolts that can with the belts onto that face. Same sort of thing as JimK has done with his build, nice ,easy and cheap solution.
Got the belts at a bargain price new, so had to come up with a solution. I thought most belts had either bolt connectors or eye-bolt hooks at the ends.
Obviously mine have eye-bolt hooks but these can be removed to allow the strap to be wrapped round the roll bar.
They are still on Ebay at the same price I bought them for. Nice 3 in webbing in black very well made. £100 each including postage. You had the choice of bolt or eye-plate fixing.
You could always sell your old ones.
