OK will the car failed the IVA
but the list was not to bad
EMissions - I knew it was not going ot pass this as the ECU was only runnign a base map
REar brakes - Bias was set in such a way where the rears were not getting much performance, hand brakes was fine so I guess this is just down to the bias bar needing set
Kerb side brake pibe fouling suspension on full lock - AGain I think this is a matter of rotating theflexi pipe as it comes through the body
ball joint not securely fastened - I replaced the lower ball joint a week ago, after the original one perished, for some reason this does not seem to sit flush onto the wishbone so will need to check as to why
SPeedometer - for some reason teh Vapor trail speedo I am using has decided not to illuminate so I will need to look at the wiring on this.
Head lights - Again, the head lights failed the test as they did nto have the correct pattern, reading car builder solutions, these lights may Fail IVA, so I need to sort out a new set.
Overall, that list is quite small, and I am very happy with that.
I hope to have most of this turned around this week and get retest & DVLA booked for build up inspection.
Was tested in Newcastle and I have to say the inspector was very good and helpful as I have always found at Sandy lane, and was more than happy for me to ask questions at every stage of the test about what was going on.

Gutted.. but now you have a defined list of points, and none of them sound too bad Small fail list really:) Shouldn't take too long to sort.

HI Steve
it wasnt to bad, I expected it to fail on emissions and exterior projections so not to bad
Expect about 2 weeks, plus mapping to resolve
Was dissappointed wiht the lights as these were provided in the kit, but hey ho, I guess if I built it quicker I would have found this earlier, and in another station this may have been different also.
Not to upset with the fail points it had

Few pics from yesterday Think it nearly beached here! My speedo was very accurate, reading only 1mph underat 70 I thought the spoiler would have failed but apparently it meets the exterio projection radii, I forgot to put the nut covers on the heads of the bolts however, but luckilty the Round tool could not hit the heads....

Not to upset with the fail points it had We fit dominator lights all the time and providing they are rotated so that vertical markings on the glass are indeed vertical or even rotated a touch anti clockwise so that the beam kicks up slightly to the kerb then they will pass. We have had issues with the bulbs that are provided with the lights, so I would suggest that you replace them with some good quality H4 bulbs and then point your headlamps at a wall to see what happens to the pattern. I'm amazed that they passed the rear spoiler as the brackets have no radius on them at all. The end of the winglets are also far too small to have a 2.5mm radius. We always fit the front spoiler before the IVA and rear afterwards. Very short fail list though so well done. RTR.

Thanks for your replies
Paul, i will give you a call with regards to the front lights later this week, I did move the lenses but something else was wrong
No problem with a month for others anyway.
as for the rear spolier, i cheated some what! on all of the edges of the brackets I fitted edge trim too, then wrapped the whole thing in Self Amalgamating tape! this gave the raidii it needed. It may be ugly but it can stay that way for the time being unitl it is registered and on the road. ;-)

Hi Andrew
Not to bad a list. I have the same lights and they have passed. As RTR said you have to turn them in the fitting a bit.
Good luck on the retest.

Well as I have said before this car likes to fight!!!
Took the car to be mapped today, Great set up in north allerton called motorscope if anyone in north east is reading, full of cars ready for the really in Hamsterley forest tomorrow, apparently 100 cars going to be on teh rally 60 historic cars, of which 56 are Mk2 Escorts apparently and a total of 100 cars going to be part of it.
Anyway, after looking over the car, it has highlighted that I have problems in number 1 cylinder, and whilst we carried on, and teh car is running better than it has ever before, I could tell I was not going to get what I wanted, anyway it looked like the Engine I have is on its last legs!!!! it is suspected that it has a burned valve, and seem to get a significant back pressure from the bottom end. it has always seemed that I was running on 3.5 cylinders with numebr one just not quite giving the performance I wanted.
SO I am now on the look out for a crate engine 2.0 zetec!
On a build that has so many times been almost there, it is not a surprise. I guess the risk of using a crashed car, that I did not know the history of has bitten. teh intenetions is to get this car on the move and through IVA by Newark so......
Oh well, a few on Ebay ;-), and this time her in doors is not objecting to me looking to spend money!

Hi all
Just a quick question before you all head to stoneleigh
I am about to change the ecu I have fitted to an omex 600 unit.
On my existing ecu I am using a techedge controller and Bosch wideband lambda sensors, having read the manual I cannot see how to connect this
My questions therefore are
1/ can I use my techedge controller with the omex ecu?
2/ if anyone has done this, has anyone got a sketch on how it is connected
Any help greatly received
Hope you all have a good weekend and see you all at Newark
Thanks
Andrew

Going off my DTA experience, you will have to set the Omex to read a linear input from the techedge output, and enter the corresponding scale in the Omex, so it knows what voltage is which mixture. I'd have to have a play with the Omex software to get an idea which menus to look in It should be doable

Surely a good time to fit a remote oil/cooler kit, not to expensive £100 or so.
Looking good so far. Good luck with the re-test.
