been a while since I have updated this, the car has fought me for a while to finish it, and work commitments got on top of me but finally it is getting there! need to sort the exhaust and tune the ECU, and then put edge tripm on everything that may have an edge and off to IVA it will go!

Looking good, good luck on the IVA. Are you putting on seperate side repeaters? Based on mine and others experience, I would guess where you have them currently will fail IVA. Lots of comments on other threads, but I ended up putting mine on the edge of the cycle wing.

Hi all
I am just finishing my car for its iva on Tuesday and I am having some issues wither alternator connection
I am not using the standard ecu, so I thought I had read some wher here that if I did not connect the smart connector the alternator will charge the battery as normal, was this correct or have I miss read something?
I also have a question on the break balance bar, I think I have read that this should be wound in as far to the rear breaks for IVA, any comments?
Other than that I plan on putting miles on the car tomorrow to ensure that the engine cooling etc is working effectively, and iron out any last issues then hopefully it will finally make some shows this season
Any help would be appreciated
Andrew

Alternator. I'm using the OMEX 600 ecu and have not connected the alternator smart connection and it charges fine. Just the power cable to the starter then the battery.
Balance bar. I think it's wisest to put it to bias front brakes. If you leave it at the rears you will have problems bleeding the brakes and also have the possibility of locking up the rears and having a spin.

Looking sweet, good luck!!
I read somewhere that an alternator has to have a load on the charging indicator wire, in order to induce a field to charge in the first place.
My alternator won't charge as yet, due to the acewell dash, and the low resistance of the led display. I need to fit a 3 ohm resistor in series with the LED to enable the charge. damn electrics. Lol.

I'd heard all sorts of stories about these ford smart charge alternators.
So I just took the plunge, left the connector off, and tried it.
Basically without the 3 pin connector it acts just like a normal alternator.

I am sure this car does not want to get finished!
Just went to fill the car and found a petrol leak!
Obviously I did not tighten the filler hose to tank neck enough
And for sure the hose clip is just out of reach so had to take the passenger seat out again
Oh well at least it was found today!

Hi Andrew
I'm with avantkiwi about the side repeaters. They will fail the IVA. I fitted Temp side repeaters on the engine cover. Then changed it back to the on the side panel after it passed the IVA.
Cheers Andy

Rather now, than on IVA test day. My old Robin Hood viscous fan failed on the way for a retest two years back.. Couldn't get booked in again for weeks.

Hi all
Next question
Following yesterday's drive I found that my steering was extremely light
I guess this is down to my suspension/ steering set up
Any advice so I can make some changes today?
Andrew
