Update time again.
Since the last one ive discovered that it was the master cylinder that was leaking. After a bit of googling it seemed to be pretty common. As the car is off the road for a while im in no rush to fix it.
Now back onto the important stuff....the turbo!
Ive got everything here apart from the Megasquirt ECU which should be arriving in the next few weeks.
After a lot of WD40 and swearing i finally managed to clock the turbo so it would fit in the Exocet. One of the pleasures of living on your own is you can get away with bringing the work into the house!
The manifold and downpipe along with all the pipe work turned up a few weeks back and the quality and fit is spot on
Moving on to the actual fitting of the hardware. All i can say is that the manifold bolts are right b***ards to get off!
Long story short...i managed to completely mangle one and cross thread (whilst trying to reinsert them) 3 others. A helicoil kit came to the rescue along with some new manifold bolts. Happy days.
Next up was drilling into the oil sump to fit the oil return pipe. i was dreading this but it turned out pain free and pretty straight forward.
I started to measure up the pipe work for the intercooler but in the end settled on a universal fitting kit off ebay which included numerous collars, bends, straights and jubilee clips. Its more than enough for what i need but allows scope for mistakes and changes of minds. Trial fitted the intercooler and pipework earlier....
I think this will be there route ill be going with. It means cutting and altering the nose cone but should be straight forward as it falls on the flat vertical bit so it should still retain its rigidity once cut to suit.
Next on the list is to install the RX8 440cc injectors. I also need to get a bung welded on further down the exhaust for the wideband O2 sensor. Once thats done, hopefully within the next couple of weeks, then i'll be looking at final fixing everything and then it will just be the ECU left to install once it turns up.
