Finally got around to finishing the Exocet and getting some pics. Got a couple of minor things left such as rearview mirror, bits of edge trim and nut covers but apart from that its complete. Took it for another drive today and straight away noticed that the dials had died again. Luckily this time it was only the fuse. Managed to get a standard mx5 steering wheel off ebay for £1.04 (the one ive got isnt IVA compliant). Once passed the smaller, better looking wheel will be going back on. I havent bothered final fitting the rear diffuser, again, this will be fitted after the IVA as its a pain to fit and may not be IVA friendly. So here are some finished pics Just waiting for the DVLA to return my V5 with the altered engine number then it will be IVA applying time.

Matthew, you must feel such a sense of achievement getting your car to this point. Congratulations! Love the look of the exhaust and the total black look. Good luck with your IVA.

All the paper work has been sent off for the IVA so its just a waiting game now. Havent done anything else on the Exocet since the last update but decided to take it for a little drive earlier up and down the lane. I was feeling all steven speilbergy so made a little video to go with it. You'll have to excuse the very amateurish editing (first time attempting such a thing). It sounds very tickety and squeaky but this tends to disappear after a proper warm up. Ive also noticed a couple of issues that have appeared such as the fuse for the rev counter constantly blowing and the reverse light not working. I think as soon as i get the IVA date through i'll address these. Anyway, without further a do here is my oscar worthy video with a cameo from some random young kid who appeared from no where at the end ;D s54.beta.photobucket.com/user/matlee_2006/media/mevexocetvid_zps8384a453.mp4.htmlId like to add what is normally a straight forward drive out of the shed was a lot more work today due to the amount of dog crap everywhere. Even with my overly careful driving i still managed to roll through a lump while reversing back in!

Sounds like your lifters are really ticking. if so after start up let run for about a min then shut down, count to 10 and restart some times that will quite them down..

Hi Mat, its looking nice.
Have you got any rear reflectors, are they inbuilt in lights? Also is the exhaust tip rolled over?

They are very tickety on start up. The following day i let the engine run for a while to check for any cooling issues and once properly warmed up the lifters quieten right down.

Bought a selection of shapes and sizes just cant decide which ones to use. The tailpipes have got chrome edge trim around them, you might be able to see it if you look carefully. Looks naff but hopefully will get through the IVA then will be removed soon after.

Just viewed the car to see where you have positioned your mirrors as I wasn't sure about the rules regarding being able to adjust them from the seat if they get knocked. Doesn't look like you have an interior mirror fitted as it needs one.
Anyway good luck with the iva hope it passes first time can't wait to get them out on the road together.

I had fitted the mirrors before checking the IVA manual. Luckily only the interior mirror and offside mirror must be reachable. I can just about reach both when harnessed in and with the seat a little bit forward.(if i had a normal seatbelt id reach them much more easily!).
I was going to use the original interior MX5 mirror but managed to drop it so have been keeping an eye on ebay for a cheapish replacement.
Ive got a couple of other little snags to do and then its just double checking everything leading up to the test. Im not setting my sights on passing first time so if it does i'll be pleasantly surprised! Ive also decided to drive it there so keeping an eye on the weather too!

Where is the test to btw. I totally forgot about the need for an interior mirror until last week luckily found the one from the donor so will use that.

The test centre is just off junction 34 of the M4,LLantrisant/Miskin.
46 motorway miles for me which im sure will be an experience! I feel quite exposed in it just driving around the block!
