Rivet gun? There ain't much passion in a rivet gun!! Just rotated the chasis and the tectile is drooling all over the place. Will place newspapers under it and hope the pie will stop overnight. On the inside the window kit looks minimal which is just right. It did spread perfect on the tubes. I will tap and clean the chasis the coming days (still having sore hands, shoulders and spine from rivetting LOL!!), add protective foam and start installing the engine. From that point I think it will be hoses, interior and cables before converting the loom. Exept for measuring bolts+ordering i cannot imagine it will take me the winter to complete. To keep the chasis compact I will dry fit the swingarm and remove it until those front wheels arive. Should be compact enough to work on the loom. Ah, forgot the final trim the body before winter sets in. planning to do this outside. later! Erik

Hi Edwin, I don't have all winter! i have too many projects waiting on the bench to start RTR Windscreens and MEV logo is on their way to the Netherlands. I hope customs will be passed quickly so I can paint the body! I think they will look cool on my tR1ke! pics soon!

Short update: Yesterday The engine was mounted in the chasis. It needed 7 washers in total to shim the free play out but now it is mounted stress free in the lugs. Yesterday I called the Momo distributor for inquiry on my Corse wheels. Basically he it seems he is talking against a brick wall called Momo. Good thing is some people from Momo will visit his place in about 2 weeks for a chat so he can spit his frustration. Up to now he has been very open to me, but I told him i am seriously considering to cancel the order or give Momo 6 weeks to deliver my wheels starting from the day I found an alternative. up to now I have found only 1 alternative in the PCD4x108 range: www.wheelsoftheworld.nl/velgen/OZ/ULTRALEGGERA/57f8aa52-f46b-47e1-be64-7224b934fb6elast night I fell in love with these wheels: www.xxrwheels.com/xxr_522_16.shtmlThey look iimpressive from an angle! Only every dimension isn't right to fit the focus hub. The 16x7 seems useable when the pcd on the hub gets changed by milling machine. An other alternative which looks impressive is the XXR02. right now I don't think the XXR502 (similar like the Momocorse) is #1 favourite over the XXR522. An other issue is I want the 552 to be anthraxite. Seriously reconsidering the body to be this color as well , just to be different to the silver metallic "neutral" color. What ya think of the 552?

I think the 552 looks a bit massive, too massive for me... In my opinion, the OZ looks really great!

Being biased I like some of the new wolfrace sport alloys. I bought the Wolfrace Assassin 17 inch wheels, £595 inc some good mid range tyres. The look the BIZ, very unusual Have only seen one other car with them (MINI Cooper Works).
You should check them out.

The Assasins do look really nice, but the 4 bolt pattern will not match the 5 spoke design as many 5 spoke designs fail IMO. The recessed centre and 8 bolt pattern of the Momo corse,522 and OZ Ultraleggra makes up for this. Just my personal taste, but that cancelles out a lot of wheel designs. The PCD4x108 narrows the coice even more. i think i am open for converting the hub and brake discs to 4x100 for the 522 and give it a paintjob.

Changing the wheel hubs may mean the upright, brake mount and wing stays might not fit. would it not be easier to get you original choice of wheel and have them painted in anthracite with the same paint as the bonnet.
cheers,kevin

Hi Kevin, I am not changing the hubs, but I may plan to modify the PCD4x108 to PCD4x100 on the hubs and brake disc and use wheel bolts instead of wheel nuts. Only the ET0 or ET25 may cause some issues with the calipers but there are spacers available for Et and centre bore. Going to 16" wheel means the wheel weight may be identical to the Momocorse17"
Before modding the hubs I need to have the XXR522 at home to select the proper wheel bolts. I need to be convinced by my car mechanic first before I pull the trigger on this. Unfortunately, These wheels are not in stock either but it is good to know a deliverydate will be given after ordering which is by far more convenient as Momo's way of doing business.

XXR552 seems 90days delivery (manufacturing) Here is an other option which may be the easiest without modding (16x7,4x108) and with modding 17x7.5,4x100 which looks very cool IMO): Rota RB northamericanmotoring.com/forums/tires-wheels-and-brakes/199169-rota-rb-wheel-gallery.htmlwheel sizes: www.rotawheels.com/wheel.php?id=34#the Gun metal color seems to look better on this as om the XXR522 Just asked Momo distributor to send my wheels within 3 weeks or cancel the order. I'll get a reply within 48hrs. seems reasonable to me. Last days I spend installing the oil temp sensor and reworking the pedal mounting lugs. This is a slow pace proces while searching for wheels. br, Erik

I assume you have already, but if not checkout this website, I bought my Team Dynamics from here, originally in White, I had them powder coated satin black, and I filled in the lettering green. www.locostbuilders.co.uk/

Nice link Nick! need to catch up reading, I haven't spend much time over there lately. just send a pm to Rota if the BR17x7,5 can be custom made to 4x108. should be no problem because 4x100 and 4x114.3 are stock items. 16x7 is in 4x108 available too! The only thing which makes me doubt if the 7.5J is good is that the inner width of the bevel is 205mm which is supertight? I still don't understand why 7.5"=190mm and 205-40-17 is recommended. any help appreciated. I have been looking at the stretched tires at youtube. thos look pretty nice! Is this street legal and are there disadvantages? Oh well, perhaps the 16x7 is a better choice after all Just some pics of slow progress. i am gathering the proper sized bolts, rivets etc. Nothing permanently attached at the front exept the radiator. i am planning to attach the cooling hoses first and place the pedal cables in between the hoses in the tunel to save height. RTR windows and logo came in yesterday. Logo looks professional. The windows are handsawn and belt sanded or something similar. I'd expected a milled product. I may do some rework on them later. painted: speedbump protection: Dash: rad: pedals+horn throttle pedal: engine: oil temp sensor: bush: nuf pics for now br, Erik

Finally I have decided the new wheels for my project. I do hope the webshop is willing to sell me 2 wheels instead of 4. Here it is: www.wheelbasealloys.com/17_Inch_Wolfrace_Olympic_GM_Alloy_Wheels__6131Main reasons for this wheel is the polished lip matches the polished mirrors, headlights, steering wheel, indicator leds, gauge pods and gear knob. The centre cap looks professional, the bolt pattern is recessed, the "Caterham" spoke design is a reasonable match to the R1 rear wheel spoke design, the open spokes show good visibility to the red Hispec calipers and brake disc and the shape is easy to clean. The gunmetal is a good match with a planned antraxite body and rearwheel(polished lips later). I discarted a silver metallic body idea because the interior is silver enough and a silver dash is too bright in sunlight. I think the neutral silver metallic looks very boring where anthraxitbody+wine red chasis makes the tR1ke more sinister which results in a strange mix of hooligan+classy. But up to now, I haven't been able to purshase 4 wheels types at various vendors for several reasons. These wheels are not listed at the Dutch Wolfrace site so don't hold your breath... And yes, I am starting to reconsider the need to buy 4 wheels or I am not getting anywhere at all. may have to sell 2 wheels on this forum if lucky.
