Yeah, sorta...
The welder was on holiday and the chasis has been returned to the coater today. there was debris underneath the coat in visible areas so the chasis need rework. Guess i have an additional delay for an other week. Chasis color is ral3005 (wine red) now. Looks like warm deep red in the sun. really nice.Intended to have metal flakes on the body but no warranty on the 7layers of clear laquer heating up in the sun on a polyesther body. Reconsidering zilver metallic as alternative. No wheels yet, no additional gauges, oiltemp sensor adapter, mesh, windscreen, resin badge. Basically the project is on hold till the chasis is back home.

Picked up the mudguards from the painter. They look awesome! Unfortunately, the real color is pretty hard to show with my camera. Closest pic to the real color is of the coated parts on the table. I'm not sure if I'd like metallic silver paint on the body or wine red. I started with adding the bushes in the swingarm but the 29mm holes are oval up to 28mm. There is no way i'll remove that much steel to get the bushes fit properly so I may be in need to ream the holes in the crush tubes or find an other solution.

Hi Eric, its a very classy colour it reminds me of the old Italian race cars. although having the bodywork the same might be to much, have you thought about having it the same colour as the wheels.
Have you removed the powder coating from wishbones were the bushes go, i did on mine and they went in fine. I also removed the coating from the tapered surface on the uprights were the ball joints fit.
cheers, kev

Yeah, i like the color as it turned out pretty much too. I think this is a timeless color. The wheels are anthraxite, which may be too dark as well. I need some more thought about the body color . I am planning a yellow nose area around the mesh which might be good enough with this color on the body too. yes I removed all the coating on the crush tube holes. I could push in the bushes by hand but the steel bushes will be a no go. i feel this is going to be a PITA to get moving smooth... buying a reamer might not be the ticket as well. The holes will be downsized too, but the tolerance less tight. perhaps the hole might be large enough to sand away some dia of the steel bushes? Not sure what to do now. a reamer isn't cheap...

A yellow nose, fantastic just like the old lotus race cars but what colour, green wouldn't suit the red chassis. I think you should have a polished alloy body made I'm sure it wouldn't be too expensive Thinking back to doing my wishbones i machined 0.1mm off the crush tubes and put a chamfer on the ends and some appropriate grease to stop the squeaking. 2k miles later and they are bedded in nice with no excess movement. Cheers, Kev

This is the color closest to my coating: onubamatic.com/admin/img/CARAVELLE-80--RAL-3005--DETALLE-INTEGRAL.jpgI recall a thread with red/green Rocket but that isn't what I am looking for. Maybe olive green or mint but for now only silver metallic or wine red body. The silver metallic looks a bit ""dull". Perhaps an antraxite body like the wheels is neat. The interior will have enough blingbling to make the body sober as well. I still haven't found what I am looking for. perhaps i will visit the car painter for some more exotic suggestions. I havent proceeded the build for now. No chasis yet and no wheels makes it useless to start on the wishbones now. Temp picking up my other hobby

I still have the original "sheme"in my head which seems to be the best option: Silver metallic and yellow nose+ oval racing plates on the sides.
Sad update. Chasis will be delivered friday (out of the garage for a month now). In total 4 vendors are lacking service. backorder 5 weeks to 10months now. if interested, send me a pm to blacklist these vendors on your future orders.
br, Erik

Silver with a yellow nose is nearly the same as using the same colour as your wheels, very nice.
IMO i would tell your wheel supplier to shove the wheels where the sun don't shine, there are plenty other makes out there.

Yeah, I should be looking for new alloys again, but i did spend a considerable amount of effort to filter the wheels I like best for the tR1ke body to match with the 4 nuts of the Focus. The original Demo tR1ke Momo-corse seem to be a perfect match but the anthraxite version take forever to get in production. The black and silver version seem to be no issue to get but I am not looking for those (Silver does look pretty good actually!) Don't they look great? www.momo.it/products.php?id_cat=1&id_subcat=1&id_sub_racing=&id_product=7&l=enHaving no chasis at home and plenty of work to do without the wheels I'd consider Momo to be very lucky me not cancelling the order. Too bad there are 3 other vendors forcing me to stop the project. My project has been stretched past 2012. I really hoped to have completed my tR1ke by now... Oh, well... I am lucky I am having too many hobbys br, Erik

My chasis went home last friday! Coating qty is "acceptable"now but I'd expected a better qty over all. Today I got my brake cleaner, copper past, tectile and car window kit. Before dinner I tectiled the chasis and after kiddy bedtime I kitted and rivetted the bottom plate. Total time was 1.5hrs to jam those 177 steel 4mm rivets in the chasis. Luckely close in the curing time of the kit. My girlfriend helped with cleaning the kit waste ! Yep, my hands ache br, Erik btw, I like the alu color on the chasis. makes me happy seing it shine. Think I'll use the silver metallic on the body too, but May change if the interior is bright enough for my liking and may opt antraxite or red 9botm with yellow nose)

Hi Eric its good to see the final assembly as started, i must confess to having a little chuckle regarding the task of rivetting the floor on. I used an air rivett gun, 15 minuets job done looking forward to see your finished paint job whatever colour you decide to use.
