Lights seem to be IVA OK so I recon no issues on these lights. Finished the loom and installed in the chasis for the last time. Made studs to protect from heat and scratching (wiring+coating chasis). I am in doubt if I need additional heat protecting sleeve on the big cooland hoses close to the enging exhaust pipes. Found the chrome letters at a local car tuning shop. They do look mandatory items LOL!! pics later.

Hi Eric Regarding using a heat shield or insulation for the cables and hoses, it will get very hot near the exhaust headers especially when in traffic with no real air flow to cool it.
I made a shield to conceal the headers similar to Rik and Edwins, it works great at masking the heat from the pipes.
Cheers Kevin

"very hot" is all relative. Human skin can only cope heat up to 60C. Up 60C it gets toasted easely. In the last pic of my previous post you can see a short piece of hose behind the exhaust headers. It's an original part which lasts forever so now I wonder why I need to add shielding or insulation at all. Edwin and Rik's way to cope heat are different to mine. edwin used Alu sheet to cover the lower part of the exhaust pipes to prevent radiation to the cooling hoses. This blocks cool airflow on the lowest part of the pipework which isn't too bad at all. Rick made a tunnel sized hole in the bulkhead and added heat protective sheet on the backside and heatwrap on the exhaust pipes so basically he has no airflow at all but no heat issues reported yet so this seems to be approved as well. On my bulkhead I made a very large opening in the bulkhead ,shortened the tunnel and use narrow seats which should work out properly I guess. I reconed hot air needs cool air from below to flow upwards. On the R1 bike there isn't any natural airflow to the exhaust pipes when standing still. The fairing and radiator do block the hot air and the fan blows it upwards/rearwards/ downwards/whatever which is far left to be desired for the hoses but it's approved and working and this is only to cool down the coolant and not the exhaust pipes which are much hotter and still the hoses are in perfect condition! In my bulkhead opening I do have sufficient area to mount a fan later. Perhaps it can be actuated when the gear is in neutral and/or switch. The airflow needs only to be a little. Basically, I don't intend to do anything to this topic until I think this is an issue. speedo healer: Speedo healer button: emblems:

Note. Forgot to mention the carbs inhale hot air and attracts cool air underneath the fairing as well, but this could be neglected. I recon warm/hot air prevents carbs from freezing as well.

Hi Eric (VERY HOT) was regarding if a cable or a wire were to accidentally contact the headers. The pipes don't need cooling at all for engine performance and the carbs get more than enough cold air when moving. Running coolant hoses near the carbs to stop icing would be a good idea for this time of the year.....Also feed the hoses through your clothes like a dry suit would be nice PS....those tr1ke letters are a perfect match.... where are you fitting them.

Not many places to stick them on! The surface needs to be flat so no chance on the bonnet exept for the passenger side dash which looks a bit cheap on that location.
On cars the emblems are on the side walk side for advertising purposes and there is only one odd place to throw them on. It has never been done before but i think it will be copied soon by other Mev kit builders LOL!!!
You guess where I want them!

Well, I bought all those chrome letters, and initially I was gong to stick mine on the rear of the Airbox, but may keep them now for my teardrop caravan. I already have a large multi badge on my dashboard

You are a tease eric, Mmm so youre going to put them on a flat surface what about the front grill could they stick to that....no you wouldn't do that it would restrict the air flow.....if you had 2 sets they could go on the fuel tanks...or would they fit on both sides of the swing arm. Will they not go on the bodywork near the mirrors or is it not flat enough. Are you getting sponsorship from rtr for putting them on your tR1ke it will be very good advertisement for them ;D Cheers Kevin

Had to wait 17 weeks for my kit which makes it a hairy deal Sponsorships ruin creativity. No compromises here, just tunnel vision only Don't mind the rubbernecking on the pavements but I am not too keen on answering "What car is that?" a zillion times . Would be a nice cellphone picture moment: pic of the handsome blocke in the car and a picof the emblems for google Suprise!

Hi Eric Read the free IVA..MSVA offer from RTR again, its 12 months from when you collect the kit. So with all the build threads on the forum to refer to it would be easy to build a tR1ke in less than 12 months. I hope you didn't think I was being serious about sponsorship, but surely spending someone Else's money is good providing you can use your own imagination. finally the location of the tR1ke emblem is reviled So you think that having TR1KE on your front guards is going to stop people asking what car is it a zillion times. Unfortunately you will have to get used to crowds of open mouthed people asking all sorts of questions, some are shocked that they can be driven legally on the road....even more so after a quick passenger ride PS...sorry to be the first to say it but...the emblems should be tR1ke not TR1KE I'm surprized eric you're normally a perfectionist ;D ;D ;D Cheers Kevin

Ah... I that case, I am within 12 months building time but I don't fancy RTR drive to MVSA in the salt and end up with corroded alu parts all over the tR1ke. Need to think about a bypass for this issue. Hihi, So basically I can't shift to neutral to avoid zillion questions LOL!! Yeah, brainfart on the capitols, got too exited Still looking classy

Hi Eric Talk to rtr and ask if they can transport your tR1ke to the test in their truck or with a cover on their car trailer, unless you want to wait till the weather is better. Even then it could still get wet if it rained.
