That seems pretty heavy still or is that including the mx5 runners as well? I'll measure the weight of a standard mx5 cloth seat and leather seat tonight and put it up to show the difference

Measured the seats by weighing myself and then reweighing holding the seats. Ive worked it out as the following:
standard fabric seats with separate headrests and seat runners - 15.9kg
leather seats with separate headrests and seat runners - 14.7kg
As stevieboy said the fibreglass seats weigh - 11.8kg
So thats saves 8.2Kg for both seats over standard which is quite a lot of a saving.

My seats arrived today so weighed them and double checked the original seats, this time by placing the seats directly onto the scales. I weigh them at
fabric - 13kg leather - 12.7kg and the new plastic seats only came in at 5.5kg however this is without the mazda runners which will probably be quite heavy.

Nice one, glad to be of assistance, original runners fit just nice, need about six washers under the seat though. Steve

Being still laid up with a broken collar bone i'm looking at doing a few easy jobs for the weekend. First is one already mentioned by others but i still cannot find mine....1.8 engine number... my logbook has the engine number the same as the chassis number, it is an import and i'm worried that this was made up for the import, help please. Next do i need seatbelt warning and handbrake warning lights. Might be able to those things without to much pain, no Newark for me this year Steve

I would say yes to the handbrake warning and no to the seatbelt warning light. As some people use harnesses and have no issues,

Pretty sure my import didn't have an engine number. There's a big bar that sticks out from the rear corner of the engine block. It's usually stamped on there. First build didn't have one. Was an issue for the IVA test, but he seemed to over look it on the retest. My advice would be to buy a cheap punch kit and add it yourself while it's early days!

Hey Stevieboy, had the same issue finding the engine number on my 1.8 import, found it by accident when cleaning, it is stamped on the block under the coil pack (next to the cam sensor), it's no wonder most imports have the chasis number or like mine no engine number at all. You can either send off your V5C and have it added (best as then there are no questions) or try and blag it through but then you may have issues confirming what year the engine is and therefore what emission test is required. Hope this helps.
