BTW, where did that square section brace bolt on? I have one, but it may be that my exhaust will get in the way...

Very well done. Not many people would have had the guts to go for a completely new dash before IVA. Brave man.

Thank you!
Re the brace the black steel one bolts to the rear subframe mounts and the blue ally one fits in-line with the rear lower wishbone mounts. I also had a rear bracer bar which fitted onto the rear lower wishbone adjusters but it was virtually impossible to adjust the tracking with it on so I binned it. Well, sold it on Ebay.

Thanks for that, the tubular one bolted straight on. It can't be as strong as the fore and aft and side to side bars fitted as standard on the 1.8, but it must help. I didn't quite understand where the alloy or steel ones mount, so I spent some time surfing and discovered these images: forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=307144...so the square section tube is designed to strengthen the front subframe.

Sorry, didn't make that very clear did I! The two pictured in my thread both fit to the front subframe, the square section at the very back or the ally one a bit further forward. Both have the effect of strengthening the front subframe. The rear subframe bracer is the 'U' shaped one which gets in the way of the tracking.

Many thanks for your advice - it made perfect sense when I saw the pictures!
Where would we all be without Ebay? I bought a pair of steel bars from Ebay thinking that they would be a bit more rigid than steel...but much heavier of course!
I think it's time for me to start selling some stuff to fund some tuning bits.

STILL waiting for my paperwork to come through from Swansea. I sent it off on the 14th. Incredibly frustrating having the car just sitting there unable to be driven. I've been in contact with them and the last I heard yesterday was that the application had been approved and they'd applied internally for the registration. Fingers crossed for tomorrow... mind you I've been saying that for the last two weeks. Make sure you send in a V627/1 form with your application. I had no idea this was required: cost me at least four days.
