Hi all. Just returned from the AMM. Some awesome cars there with good weather and magic company. Had the pleasure of ordering an MEVX5 from Stiggy. Going to drop off the donor with him next week and have them build and spray through their own arrangements to their usual high standard (Would have done it myself but lack of garage forces these things) then in slower time replace the front and rear subframes I've reconditioned in readiness for the now abandoned (no garage ;-() Exocet project. Having seen it in the flesh I'm even more impressed with the shape and laminate quality they have produced. It looks more like a production car than a kit and although admittedly it does have a passing friendship with a certain Norfolk based sports car, it has a feel all of its own and the most important thing for me is: I LIKE IT!

Yesterday saw me driving over the pennines to meet Stiggy at Mansfield station where I handed over my donor to be lovingly crafted into an MEVX5. A good run over the M62 which reminded me why I like the MX so much. Even in a straight line it's fun! (Just wait for those bends when I come back via the Snake pass though...) Now I really can't wait to see it back.

Im glad I live at one end of the Snake. Great road, my GTM loves it. Holme Pass nearby is also so much fun. Looking forward to seeing the result of the conversion. What colour are you going for?

I'm having it deliverd in 'Sulphur Yellow' (RAL1016) and have a vinyl guy standing by at this end to add some Black trim. I was originally going for Orange but had a last minute change of mind. I used to live in Glossop so the snake was on our doorstep. A little further now but quite conveniently on a route back.

By way of an update, I've received a couple of photos from Paul over at RTR which shows they are doing a grand job. Can't wait till I can go over to collect it now (Though I'm going to be kept busy building the Eco-Exo!)

I won't put any spoiler pics in as I want the next photo set to be when the MEVX5 is finished but I've seen it in its final colour and hear the brightwork is going on now. Not long now folks! ;D

I've just returned from Nottingham in my shiny new MEVX5 ;D ;D ;D A couple of teething problems, none of which were anyone's fault at all. The driver's door chose collection day to get stuck locked which seemed to cure itself after taking the door card off and later it threw some petrol on the floor after filling due to the 'unleaded flap' being out of reach of the filler hose and it trying to fuel up (slowly) through the breather tube consequently frothing up and over. We've sorted a temporary fix for that now by way of a length of brazing wire holding the flap open. More permanent fix can wait till its a bit warmer for working outdoors. I must give massive kudos to the RTR team for the stainless 'Cat Back' twin outlet exhaust they made up for me. Its sound alone is worth every penny I'll get some photos posted as soon as Paul sends them over but suffice to say I'm a very happy bunny...

By the way, I had to get in the car by the passenger door again! I now know what's causing the driver's door to lock up. It's a common problem with MX5s in that a small spring in the lock mechanism gives up and either snaps or drops off and can be repaired by replacement spring for about a fiver. Guess what I've just ordered.
