good luck tomorrow, Probably they will not let you attend the approval like Vosa does in the UK, so you could come along for a coffee in the meantime, im just 25km from the test station!

Well, the evaluation of the big survey: not approved.
After they used the handbrake as a emergency brake the pads were completely worn. Then, off course, the parking brake test failed. They found a few sharp edges at the rear which can hurt a pedestrian in case of a collission (if I hit a pedestrian with the rear of the trike, I must at least have ran over him already in my opinion) The position of the rear indicators is wrong, they must have a distance krom the outer side of the trike from at least 40 cm.
A comforting thought: the guys at the dutch mvsa were really impressed of the quality of the build. Normally, after a survey, they have at least 20 points of disapproval. In my case only 3.
But still, these minor issues must be solved before I can get the licence plate.

Sounds pretty good mate, :-) The rear projections do make you chuckle, like you say, unless you reverse over someone, the chances are they have already been run over by this stage :-)
I imported a Boom Lowrider from Kotz in Germany back in 2004, after some idiot young DVLA bloke got a bee in his bonnet about it not being Homolgated in the UK, despite the German Logbook approving the use and the VIN plate being stamped as E4 type approved for the UK, he deemed I needed a SVA, the test prior to MSVA.
After approx 3 hrs of testing and finding really nothing at all to fail it on, he said the only thing we found that could be classed as a failure is the radius on the front of the front mudguard :-)
I suspect the least of your worries is that you might cut your finger, as I run you over killing you instantly with my 7" dual headlights, or maybe the sheer force of my vehicle hitting you may cause you to suffer a heart attack, non the less, they were worried my front mudguard may injur someone :-)
After a lot of messing about they decided to not fail it, and explained they could not understand why I needed to bring it for a test as it was quite clearly type approved for the UK :-)
You can always fit a pair of rear lights on the crossbar where your seatbelts are located, mine passed with mine on there.
Cover any sharp edges with rubber pipe, trunking etc, I would invoice them for the pads, what the hell is that about?
3 pretty minor points hopefully mate

I suppose technically after it passes you could fit a rear seat and carry 4 people :-)

Is rdw allowed to do destructive testing? (I would be not amused..)
When is the next and final session planned?

Too bad it failed on minor details. I guess that cancelles out the rear wing option! Good luck on your next visit! Erik

compliments for the few small failures. If youre doing dutch approval this prepared and well organised, you dont need to go the UK route costwise although the approval process here takes ages compared to the uk. I would charge them for the handbrake. A child could understand not to use it for that purpose. On the other hand, the minor failure is just a 1 minute inspection and ready. Good luck with the tax boys! any problems, call me!
You're the first trike on the road here and even the first dutch MEV builder being registered although I got 2 mev Rockets registered here allready through UK import.

Handbrake is solved already, I made sintered pads from old motorcycle racing brake pads, there mounted for life . Also, they have much more friction so the handbrake works much better than before! The few sharp edges are also solved and I only have to think about a "pedestrian-safe solution" for the indicators. I have all day to think it over today, since it's mothers day .

A picture was made during the test... We had to ask for a photographers permit to do, but herewith the first legal test picture of a tR1ke in the Netherlands (not really a shocking picture, but anyway...). Test is performed by a dedicated RDW test driver (RDW is the dutch MSVA).

The Dutch flag on the back ground does the job.
Proud to be DUTCH! :-)
