Bit of work at home, 6hrs (at the farm not the workshop) saw the bonnet back to its gel coat colour rather than AST 1140 (the 50s metallic racing colour). I had bought a product that boat folk use to remove paint from GRP but this failed to take off the paint so it was hours of careful sanding with 400, 600 and 1200 grit before rubbing compound. Not much to look at but happy to have sorted.
Trip to work shop today for a few hours only to have a local classic car enthusiast call in and more than an hour lost chatting cars!
Standard mx5 rear exhaust silencer fits inside the rear support structure on my car so that's what I went for but end pipe finishes right behind off side rear lights.
After thinking it through I realised solution was really simple, cut along red line and turn end through 90degs
Connector order to both reconnect pipe but also add a little length (part ordered - next job fitting)
Whilst taking exhaust photos thought it might be worth re-iterating the NB mid exhaust box wont fit inside the chassis so I bought the pipe that doesn't have this box (just hope exhaust is silenced enough). Box usually sits right on the corner of the floor pan, I did originally have a pipe with box that I'd hammered to clear but it looked like a bodge so its gone.
Attempted to fit internal aluminum panels now side supports have gone off, after a struggle managed to get drivers side in but passenger side wasn't having it so rather than break something I called it a day (half day) to think it through.

I did join the Face Book group but didn't like some of the behaviours so left hence this is my only build record (other than IVA file) although I have joined a couple of general kit car groups on Facebook and they have been really helpful.

Following the summer break had some time back on the kit. Finalised exhaust, following issues trying to use the donor central pipe, with mid box, I've decided to delete the mid box but retain the original rear back box and exit at rear of car. All now in place with exception of very end pipe which will emerge in lower rear panel, can only finish this once exhaust rear box hangers have been installed (these determine position/height of rear box). Post IVA exhaust will be moved to passenger side cill exiting just in front of rear wheel. Another minor job I've been putting off is the front mounting brackets, on the MEV they are fiddly to produce as the angles are greater than 90Deg and support falls in middle of upper plate (probably won't make sense unless you've been there). I do hope Quantum have addressed this in the latest version of the car LMR141.
Brackets made just need to add some paint before fitting.
Headlamp cut out complete
Starting to look like a car.
Installed front indicators too, not sure i like them but they are original

Had some time over at the workshop this morning. Petrol filler and tank now connected.
Rear body support fitted, after much fiddling and swearing, recognise this is unlikely to be much help to anyone with an ANC or Quantum LMR141 build as Andy at ANC changed this part of the chassis.

Todays short job was to cut out the hole in the rear deck for the fuel filler. Remember this is an early car so no opening boot lid which means I can place the filler somewhere where it clears all the braces underneath so here are the hole location dimensions. Using masking tape 'should' ensure hole edge is clean with no gel coat splitting/cracking Couple of minor cracks but small enough to be hidden by filler neck
Finished location, if using car with boot lid filler can be moved to other side of boot lid body line.
Parts to complete

About to drill the hole in the bodywork for the Aston Martin flip up fuel filler, not sure whether to place top nearside of boot lid or in centre.
Side angles for interior complete and voids between body and dash (engine was visible) filled with 50mm foam tape which takes up the shape well.
Headlight install will follow fuel filler install and connection.

Well its on. The list Lights to connect Filler panel above re bulkhead to install Petrol filler and pipework to tank Exhaust (still struggling to find a centre box that will fit in tunnel alongside PPF, donor is oval and too large) Re install original rear dampers (new dampers) and springs, Gaz Gold Pros lower car too much. Wheel alignment (way out after rack de-powered despite putting back together using all original dimensions) Check all torques Mirrors, rear and wing, to install Surround to gear stick No doubt a few I've missed.

Seats and harnesses fitted, starting to look like something you could drive. Even with passenger seat fully back battery is clear (relief). Not sure about the harnesses.

Final fit of dash before body fit next weekend. Really pleased with the fit and finish of the binnacle. Upper bulkhead horizontal panel extended to flow under dash. Battery to re-fit then seats and harnesses ready for the muscle calling in at weekend to lift body on (hopefully for last time).

May appear quite trivial but recognising car has no weather protection and I live on the edge of the Pennines rain is inevitable so drains in the floor are a good idea. Once body, seats, non slip foot boards are all in place access would be difficult so thought I'd do them now Surprising what you can do with a couple of large sockets (HGV set) and some threaded bar, really happy with the end result.

First full day in the workshop since Sept, all the wiring that I'd undone now back wrapped and fastened under dash.
In an effort to take at least one step forward (re doing wiring covering old ground) spent a little time whilst I have access creating drain holes in the six separate floor sections (photos to follow).
Next job is to refit upper front bulkhead and seat belt rear fixing install, prior to body final fit (going to need some bodies to assist).

Well after some months, and some help from another group, I took a trip over to the workshop and tried the fix suggested.
Took only a couple of minutes and EVERYTHING now working as it should so back to work on the kit (as soon as it warms up a bit)
The solution for any others using a 98 NB MX5 donor...................dash has to be connected, this wasn't apparent from the wiring diagram I managed to (eventually) track down last year. Slightly embarrassed to admit this was all it was, particularly as I'd started stripping the tidied wiring from under the dash, but just in case anyone else encounters a similar problem I thoughtI'd post.
