I now have a throttle pedal kits available for the Rocket priced at £27.50 + postage and packaging. The kit as supplied is pictured below and includes all the components needed to build and fit the pedal to the standard Rocket chassis. All you need to do is tap-out the pedal stop (M6) and the cable adjuster thread (if used), assemble, weld the footplate to the pedal arm and paint! The pedal is mounted to the strap that supports the brake and clutch pedal mounting via two M8 bolts, (supplied). Assembly instructions are included. For builders that have not yet had their cars IVA’d I recommend that the leading edge of the pedal is profiled before painting to remove any sharp edges, even though the control pedals are exempt from the edge test. The throttle pedal design compliments the Wilwood brake and clutch pedals perfectly and is fully adjustable to suit the installation. Pedal travel to full throttle is 60mm when using the standard FORD throttle body, (measured at the footplate). (illustration to show pivot bearing)Pedal fitment to the Sonic chassis is also possible. Kits are normally in stock and can be despatched within a few working days of cleared payment. Please contact me by PM for further details.

Thanks to all for the positive comments.... I'm pleased to announce an update to the Throttle Pedal Kit which now includes a slimmer body and a Roller Bearing pivot for resistance-free operation. The only welding now required to complete the kit is the footplate to the pedal arm which can be positioned to suit the drivers preference. Please see the top of the thread for pictures of the kit components, screen shots and pricing. Thanks,

I’ve spent some time developing a Quick Shift Gear Lever Assembly for the Rocket and Sonic vehicles that reduces the shift throw by over 40%. This will give much quicker, positive gear change and less arm movement between 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th which should be more comfortable than the standard unit, especially when you are strapped into a deep bucket seat. The main bracket is a complete re-design of the original Ford unit and picks-up on the same four mounting holes which will allow the conversion of existing installations as well as fitment to new ones. The base of the bracket is lightened and extended to accommodate adjustable selector cable brackets although the positions have been set to be correct for the ib5 gearbox when flush with the rear of the base, (see screen shots). The top tower has been extended above that of the standard unit to enable the gear lever throw ratio to be modified to help to retain a reasonable length lever in the cabin. The top of the lever is shortened over the standard unit and can be shortened further if necessary to reduce throw by 50-55%. In the current design 1st to 2nd travel is just 85mm compared to 145mm of the original. Full details are not yet finalized but the intention is to make this available as a conversion kit for the Mondeo (steel bracket) lever assembly with levers modified on a service exchange basis. The kit will include the following…. 1 off Fully fabricated main bracket, welded and powder coated, 1 off Gear lever, ratio modified, shortened and re-threaded, 2 off Selector cable brackets, powder coated, Fixing kit. From the ‘donor’ gearlever assembly you will need the top alloy housing complete with bellcrank lever, centering spring, the nylon bearing that sits around the main ball joint and the plastic lever stop that is fitted inside the main bracket. I do have a number of donor levers and if owners are interested I can supply the first few units complete. Pricing tbc. The ‘virtual’ prototype is complete and I should have the first ‘hard’ prototype by the middle of Feb. Vehicle fit and function test shall follow shortly after and production units should be available around the end of Feb, (assuming no corrections are necessary!). Please register your interest by PM and will update you on progress. Thanks,

Hi Paul
sounds great, I'd like to see one and ensure it fits under my existing tunnel, but it sounds like a great idea.
Cheers

Hi Joker can the bearing be retro fitted to the earlier pedals? I haven't fitted mine yet. I can machine/ream the hole to suit the bearing, which one is used? Thanks. Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Unfortunately the bearing will not directly fit the original pedal and the easiest way to upgrading to the bearing version is to replace the pedal arm. The hole in the original arm is 25mm diameter and the bearing OD is 19mm.
It is of course, possible to open-up the pivot bush on the original to 19mm and fit the bearing that way. If you do this though I would recommend fitting two bearings at each end of the bush ideally with a floating spacer between the two.
I can supply just the pedal arm and bearing if you decide to go that way.
Regards,
