I have noticed that people are putting nut covers over the ball joints on the track rod ends does this have to be done for IVA and if so what about the split pin

I used a thin split pin that you bend out at the end. You would still get a cover over it.

Paul, I made the mistake and bought the cheap one from machine mart. Most of the dyes have broke after 2 rivets. Reading online everyone moans about them. I have used a couple of nuts and bolts on most of mine to pull them tight, it's just a bit slower. If I was going to get another it would be something like this www.cromwell.co.uk/shop/hand-tools/riveters/professional-rivet-nut-inserter/p/KEN5693080KFor stainless ones that is definitely better than the hand squeeze ones

Looking very good Paul, I have been following your build. I have just dismantled the front and back ends. Now deciding whether or not to replace the bushings. It looks like you went with the more cost effective version, floflex bushes. I have read varying reports on these. How did you get on, did they fit up ok? I dont think I can justify paying £400 for a rubber set, the floflex are much cheaper.

hi Dan, The floflex bushes are a good fit I paid about £80 for the full set as they were on offer. I read mixed reviews but as I'm not planning on using mine on the track or doing 50,000 miles I think they will be fine. They were really easy to fit as they are split so they just push in from both sides, I just use pipe fittings to push the old ones out with a vice and a piece of pipe to extend the vice bar. It was quite easy to do as I did not have access to a press. your build is looking good it looks like your coming on nicely where in the country are you? have fun

Well Gents, Next decision made i have decided to go with Mikeeboys idea of using flexy braided brake pipes from front to back and across the power steering pump. (cheers mikeeboy). i have asked the question to the IVA and they say that it would be ok to do this and i have also decided to use flexy braided fuel hose on my flow and return (thanks again mikeeboy) i call this pinching with pride . it will cost around £235 for the kit of fittings and hoses which when you add in the brake flare tool, fittings and brake hose not to mention fuel lines and clips, it works out not much more money and will save me from doing some extensive pipe bending .

hi fellow builders, I've not posted for a while as i'm awaiting the call to pick up my Kit I have discovered something that might be of interest to you all I have found a company in Mirfield west Yorkshire that you will have heard of called ASH silicone hoses. whilst I was at there showroom was discussing the build and we were talking about induction kits when they said they make them on site so I asked them to give me a quote and I was pleasantly surprised!! I took my existing air box and pipe work down and they made one for my car that allows all you need to plug and play:) I just had to buy a breather plug to fit which I used a brake fitting that cost me a whopping £1 lol. the air filter has a cover over it which will allow you to connect the air sensor from your old air box and use the rubber grommet to make it look the business:) also might help with shielding the heat from the manifold. The induction kit comes in a range of colours and as the K&N one is £300 ish I was expecting it to be quite expensive but to my shock it works out at £53 all in including the hose clips I thought this was worth sharing. cheers

Wheels, I have found a company in Bradford that powder coat wheels for £1 per inch. I thought this might be too good to be true but I thought I would give it a go !! the wheels were really badly marked and scuffed to the point that I thought they would be no use. I dropped them off and was told to return in 3 days, I was not sure what to expect but to my surprise they were mint they had cleaned them up and they have done a fab job of coating them i could not be happier. the company is called CAS Coatings and yes they charge £1 per inch. I have just had new tyres fitted and they look like new

Mk2.5 only has a single common feed pipe, rather than dual, so don't worry. I've been off ill some time, but I'll look up the relevant info from gwnwar
