Thanks gwnwar. I opt for the sparky in the end, so £50 later we got it working again . Somehow if you get the headlight wires crossed i.e high beam and low beam than it doesn't like it.
The other notes on my IVA fail was that, I need to bring the car with a full tank so that the inspector can get the correct weight of the car. The issue is that, due the way the tank sits I can only get half a tank . Did anybody come across this issue and what was the solution, or can anybody give me the weight of the car with a full tank please?

Phone Stuart at MEV and ask his advice as because of the filler position you can only get half tank. probably a way to re calibrate the fuel gauge … if there is I don't know how to do it but stuart will.

Couple of things you can do.. fill till as full as you can get it.. Pull the sender unit from tank bend arm for the float so it reads full on gauge.. Or know how mush gas is in the tank and sub that from a full tank.. difference is 6.216 lbs. per gallon add that to weight of car..

A full tank is as much fuel as you can put in it, if you demonstrate it is "full" but with a large air resevoir then that will equal your maximum weight.

If anyone has a test and finds a difficulty often I can help on the day by you passing the inspector over on your mobile and if required I can email a document that may enable you to secure a pass.
