MASSIVE THANK YOU TO DEANO TODAY FOR A SHAKEDOWN OF CAR. Yet again his knowledge proves to be invaluable and we solved sooo many issues, some of them caused by me I hasten to add. The good old top hat and ball joint debacle reared its ugly head and a trip to rtr for the correct maxi ones soon sorted it out but 2 years too late......! Looking forward to going out for drive with Deano although I fear all I'll see s the back of his car and a very small image it will be as he'll be miles ahead.....

worrying to hear of ball joint failure, what type/make did you have and where did you buy them and why did they fail? I know the ones from Rally design are copies of the Austin Maxi ones and may have limited articulation compared to the genuine part but I don't think the original ones are available now. I made a short vid as below which may help you check for issues. Please also see Rocket IBG.

It wasn't a failure its the fact that he was issued with the incorrect ball joints they didn't fit the arms correctly & the tappers where way out where locking on tappers before they where all the way home simple fix Chris come back after road test to say it drove like a completely different car & gave him so much more confidents smiles from ear to ear which was good to see Sorted out brake bias bar & adjusted push rods After that was more than happy for him to take my son for a drive

I have to say testament to Deanos troubleshooting is the fact he let his son ride passenger with me, bloody scary having responsibility of someone's kid! Can't tell you how pleased I was at the differences in driving my car after a day sorting out issues, feel I can really enjoy it now

What was the issue at the front Shaggy? With the sudden suspension droop? Beside the ball join issue the other main handling cosern is that people seem to insist on tightening up all suspension with the vehicle on axle stands this compressors the bushes in a unatural road position it can be a bit of a faf but any final tightening up of suspension component should be on the floor in its natural road position you will be surprised how much difference this makes maz & shaggy can both vouch for this The other Lille issue was ride night this should be done with the combined weight of driver & passenger in the vehicle bags of sand works well if you seats are in but i did mine with seats out & used bricks Deano

it would be possible to see some pictures of the problem and the solution? Not sure what ur wanting pics the ball join issue is in the tech section as for ride height the lower arms should be parallel with floor with vehicle loaded Deano

sammy and All forum members, please take note: At the top of each MEV 'type of' forum board, where necessary there is an IBG - 'Important Builder Guidance' thread, example:- Rocket IBG, that is controlled by ' The Management '. It is a notification thread, place that manufactures can alert, give guidance to builders en masse of important issues over and above the Build Guides. All builders should periodically, throughout their build and especially before driving for the first time, check to see if this thread has been updated and that all of the issues it raises have been considered.
