HI All,
I was wondering if anyone has 1600 Mk1 Mx5 Indicator stalk that they could send me a detailed picture of.
I have failed IVA on not having clear decals on the stalks and I am having trouble finding a set with good decals and doesn't cost more than I want to spend. I am looking for clear pictures of what the originals look like and where they are on the stalks.
I am thinking that I can spray the old ones or creating some stickers with a vinyl cutter I have. Or another Idea if anyone has one.
Cheers

That feels really unlucky - I don't even recall seeing anything about that in the IVA or elsewhere - hope everything else ok and you find a good solution. Here you go:-

You are a STAR!!!
Thank you!!
Yeah it was a little unlucky. It also failed on not having proof the vacuum hose on the brakes was the correct one, it was the original off the car, and small things like one of my screw caps fell off and my Steering wheel was sharp.
Head light pattern was another failure and was expected. These lights are a little tricky to get right.
Thanks again!!!

Most people leave the original vac hose in place so how have they all proved it? What test centre were you at?

Weird, never heard of a vac hose being given as an IVA issue, the inspector can only fail items listed in the manual, they cannot make stuff up. Perhaps the hose did not have an arrow on it showing direction of the inline valve. They have a non return valve half way up. In the absence of markings he should be able to blow down one end if he felt it was a potential issue. That said if the servo works...
Occasionally we need to remind inspectors of the limits of their task. If a fail item is raised he has to give clear guidance as to what exactly is the issue. The inspector should be asked to point you to the wording to which he is relying on in the manual before he issues a fail ticket. In the case of a fail then you should not leave until you are 100% clear as to what is to be expected upon your return.

Yeah, I did think it was a bit odd. It also failed on the harnesses moving around on the Roll cage until he called me a few days later and said that someone had questioned it and he should not have failed it so.
This IVA business seems a little open to interpretation and after going through it for the first time I am much more relaxed about it. Knowledge and a bit of confidence can get you a long way. That said they are there for our safety so it really depends on what they have chosen to fail as to your right to complain i suppose.

Most people leave the original vac hose in place so how have they all proved it? What test centre were you at? It was a test centre in Bristol. I had a few items such as the wrong VIN number on my paperwork , Long story but all was fixed on the day and he was very helpful. Just for reference it seems you can have up to two digits out and they can still move forward (providing that VIN is not already used). Really not sure on this Vacuum hose thing. He said that I could bring in a cut off piece to show the cord inside?! Anyway I bought a new silicone hose kit for the complete engine and vacuum hose so I am hoping that the receipt for that will be enough. Have it booked back in for October so fingers crossed I don't get showered on too bad or freeze to death on the way there. Am also praying that the headlights pass on alignment as I have now managed to get a reasonable flat pattern that I think is more than acceptable. Might end up looking for a new set of lights. Just dont want to spend £200-300 on a lovely set of headlights when I don't really plan on driving in the dark

what headlights are they? They are the ones that come with the electric bundle from MEV. It seems most people buy new bulbs and get through. I bought new bulbs but it seems I have not adjusted the lens far enough. My pattern was the wrong way round like I was in Europe. haha Oops. Have now got something that seems ok on the back of my garage door but I dont have the equipment to align properly.

If singles, her is one of my other builds mate hammyszero.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

I had a look at your last post and it seems they mod is easy to do. thanks for that. I have mounted the lights 90 degrees though so I think I might have to do some more modding.
