I am very excited now, can't wait for my money to appear, had a final look around the TR1KE with a view to reverse, one TR1KE being assembled has a custom RTR reverse kit installed, looks like a work of art based on the amount of time they have spent designing it and making it fit into a very small working space indeed. My initial thought of my reverse system may still work as I will mount my rear brake lights elsewhere. allowing that space to make my bracket, but based on my pictures taken yesterday I have another idea for reverse, it does still involve a motor mover, but a different make, I am pretty sure I can make a substantial mount and it can fit on the bottom of the frame under the swingarm, I need to actually see one of these motor movers in the flesh however to see how big it is. I think to get it through its test it will just be made as simple as possible without the reverse system.
Very Very excited now, my money better be in my bank soon ;D

The best thing i suggest is to click on my website link as me and uploading pics is an almost impossible thing to do based on past attempts on this forum. www.green-mean-machine.comfind the link for MEV TRIKE pics My idea is to make a substantial bracket to mount a REICH Jumbo motor mover onto the back of the chassis near the swingarm at an angle where once pushed onto the rear wheel creates the same pressure as it would on a caravan. this will be something done once the TR1KE is registered. Cheers Nick

Hi Nick, I like your idea. However with this solution you are adding 30 kg of weight to the Tr1ke, plus likely your Tr1ke needs a bigger battery. Why not put it into the right direction before you hop in?? No reverse is a part of the minimalism concept.
BTW. I am considering the possibility to add a wheel chair rail to the front wheels.... BTW2. An other consideration is to make an opening in the floor so the tr1ke can be moved like Fred Flintstone does...

Hahaha, love it. don't knock my idea till you see it though :-) mine will be a lighter unit all together, its just something i want to add at a later stage, still not ordered it yet, just waiting for funds ;D

Only proper solution for a reverse is having a motorbike as a donor with reverse. (Like a BMW K1200LT / K1300LT.) The RTR solution is way too complicated. A caravan mover solution is too heavy. For the moment: I am not fitting a reverse.

Yes, for the time being I wont be fitting a reverse either, just want to get it through its test, and yes, maybe I will find I dont need one. My caravan motor mover idea is a possibility though. Had even looked at motors from Mobility Scooters, I think I need my trike on its wheels and then get an idea of what might work or not.

The same over here. Perhaps a combination of ideas: A spindle that lowers an electro motor to the drivechain for reverse.

I'm thinking a sproket that stays in contact with the chain that's hooked to a electric clutch then attached to a starter motor.

It's a bad idea to have an extra sprocket staying in touch with the drive chain: 1) the chain always needs some slack so you cannot have a non-moving sprocket on the chain. This will cause the bearing of the drive shaft to wear out quickly. 2) you need a hell of a bearing for this extra sprocket, because it will always be spinning when the tr1ke is moving. But, there must be some kind of a solution. We just have to find it

I know when I had my Buell, there was a tensioner wheel running on the belt all the time, maybe something like that, that when a inertia start fires out the cog, it makes contact. There defo seems to be much more room between the back of the frame, forward of the swingarm to put a suitable solution in there.
The solution I am looking at is currently on eBay, but I need my trike next, so once im built, registered and banned for speeding, I may look again ;D
If only somebody knew how Campagna's reverse works on there T-Rex using the Kawasaki ZZR1400 engine, they have a trade secret that nobody seems to be able to find out, unless you buy one and strip it down, can anyone lend me $58,000 to see? ;D

Just $58,000? There are days that I have less in my wallet Your idea is great to start with anyway. Maybe a starter which has a sprocket in stead of the little gearwheel and a lever system which (electrically) lowers the sprocket on the chain?
