Folks I am new here and have been looking around the various build threads, which are fantastic and full of detail, these will help me through my build. I couldn't find one thread which basically had a list of options to buy, upgrades, standard parts, best websites to get these from (UK). It would be great to have a complied list of links that have been really useful during the build, and input from other builders on what they have bought for there car and why. This would be fantastic for someone new like me. Ideally I want to buy new/ upgraded parts as and when I have the money, or as and when a sale is in place. That way I can have a full list of parts ready and waiting for the build instead of having to order and wait. I know something I wont know till its stripped, but others will definitely be needed. Small list below, I would like other suggestions with links etc. If this thread is else where, please ignore. Parts needed. Bushes ( all round) Bearings / new hubs (Hubs) Disc & Pads (all round) new seats Lights Harness Induction kit Service Kit (oils / belts / pulleys) Paint(sub frame & suspension) Special tools Coil over Please add review, links and cost if possible Thanks Chris

I don't know that there's a single source of all bits, and I know the MX-5 is very well kitted out with aftermarket parts (mx5nutz comes to mind). But the discounts section does contain a lot of places that we get kit car parts from, with a helpful few quid off. mevowners.proboards.com/board/78/forum-supporting-suppliers

Hi mate, as far as suspension bushes go, for price & quality go to www.duraflexpubushes.com come in a choice of colours, really cheap & tidy quality. A word of warning, burn your old bushes out, it's the only effective way of doing it. For brakes etc go to www.freakyparts.co.uk really good packages as cheap prices Timing belt kits are cheapest at mx5 heaven, their timing belt kit is only £70 with water pump included. Last but not least, welcome to the forum I wish you well.

Get your suspension bushes tested at a garage before tear down. It's a bitch of a job, I tried loads of ways to kick the bushes out, press etc the only thing that worked was a gas cooking stove. Molten rubber gets every where for weeks, the suspension bushes Mazda made are almost bomb proof. Don't replace them if you don't need to, I know it's nice to have new coloured ones etc, but the job is not nice. Learn from my mistakes, don't remove the rear half shaft & hub assembly as it's not needed. Most importantly, undo the 29mm hub nuts while you have a handbrake. I learned the hard way. Definatley do a timing belt kit change & clutch change while it's stripped, it will never be easier. I would rebuild the brake callipers as part of the rebuild, the callipers piston get very badly pitted. Big red do really cheap brake service kits or they will rebuild them for you.

As all the above but anything brakes wise go to Stewart at Freakyparts (member on here and FB) he knows these cars and races them. Answers your sometimes dumb questions with patience and humour too which counts.

Hi Chris - for 99 cents I'd recommend this book. It doesn't state it specifically, but it's an Exocet build (kit cost match) and it has the person's entire spend. Everything the author bought for the car and associated price. And it's 99 cents....
