Last weekend I travelled 2 hours each to take part in a hill climb where each run was 1km and we did 4 official runs.
This weekend I travelled 30mins to compete in our club rally sprint in which each run was 14km and we got six runs in, a total of 84km!
The club ran it like a full rally stage so we had to have a co-driver, we used time card with check in times and there was "touring" to the start and from the finish to the pit area. Three runs to count for final finishing position.
We were also issued with pace notes but that is another story (I mean what exactly does " ! smCr KpL 5R+ 150 " mean in real life?) especially if one does not have any sort of intercom system, in fact all that did was make my co-driver sick. Luckily he managed to hold it together unlike another competitor who had to wash his car out afterwards
The day started cold but dry but we got one leg where we got a little wet then it cleared up again however some of the road was never going to dry out and stayed slippy.
The video attached has a bit of a cheat in it, at 7:54 the video swaps to the previous run. The main part of it is from my final run which was shaping up to be the best one until my gearbox suddenly had five neutral gears and a little man inside with a hammer (possibly more than one little man actually) so I finished the video off by spicing in the final bit from the one before. Still I didn't catch fire or push a conrod through the block!
The eagle eyed amongst will also be able to answer one of the great questions about the Rocket, namely at what speed should you launch one? Well on the right crest it turns out to be 156kph as shown at 8:50.
All in all a really great day and not bad for mid winter fun, funnily today it has spent all day pouring with rain so weren't we the lucky ones.
