Hi, I've got a MK2 fuel tank and have it mounted so that the fuel filler end is behind the driver's side.
Obviously there's the filler and a vent pipe back to the tank, how have you all got this routed to the top of the rear section? Flexible pipe i think will work - subject to clearance but then there's that other pipe?
We have to use a Vented Aero fuel cap from memory too?
Cheers.

I have a mk1 tank which I rotated so I have the filler hole behind the driver seat. I am mounting my filler on the top but at the roll hoop end of the cover as there is more space to play with. I have cut and welded the filler pipe from the mx5 (take care if doing this due to the fumes from the galvanising!) planning on using an ultra flexible hose from cbs. Ill let you know how I get on and get some pics. Could be a few weeks though as I don’t get to work on the car as often as I would like!

If you plan to use an aero cap, what do you think you'll do with the other smaller pipe on the old filler/tank?

I won’t be using an aero cap as I am using the standard one. I will however be machining an aluminium cover for the cap to improve how it looks.
I did contemplate using an aero filler, if I had then I would have looked at fitting a T-piece for the small pipe to connect into just below the aero filler.

I ended up getting some flexible hose, it might have been marine hose.... it doesn't stretch though. So that, plus a "convertor" to change the diameter on one end to the gas tank, plus some hose clamps. While much more flexible than most, it's not super flimsy. Both good and bad. The ridges you see in the pic is a metal wire to keep its shape. www.carbuildersolutions.com/de/ultra-flexible-fuel-filler-hose-45mm-1-34

I ended up getting 2x 90deg gates fuel filler hoses attached to one of those flex hoses via 2x couplers. Nightmare to install the rear cover but works.

I have ended up cutting and welding the filler spigot on the tank so that it points towards the filler cap location. I should now be able to cut down the original fill hose to connect everything up. With any luck I’ll be able to get in the garage this afternoon to find out.
I’ll get some photos

Trial fit was pretty good, might need some Hose with a bit more flex.

I have used some Fluoro lined silicone hoses and the standard mx5 filler routed it to come out of the side of the tank behind the drivers seat.
