Hey kp, as the US distributor of the Exocet are you going to do anything about the transmission tunnel on the left hand drive version of the exocet? You remember how the footwell on the driver's side of the US version is the passenger side of the UK version and thus it was pretty narrow for your pedals and all. Looking at the car assembled now do you think its possible to mirror the offset the trans tunnel had and put the bigger footwell on the driver's side?

I know Kevin has been very busy getting everything setup. So, I'll give you my two cents in case he doesn't see this for few days since I'm almost done with my LHD Exocet.
The problem with the LHD cars is the exhaust coming down on the left side of the engine/transmission. So, I think the only option is to possibly adjust where the pedal assemblies are attached without doing some major re-engineering of the chassis. I do know I've talked to Kevin about this and he's well aware of it. Hopefully he'll see this soon and can fill you in with more details.
Hope that helps a little?

rumbleseat - Mark is right. Moving the brake/gas pedal mounting location slightly to the left would be optimal. However I will say that even as my pedals are mounted today, I wear size 12 shoes and fit fine.

Kevin, I live in SW Florida and am thinking about bringing over a MEV Rocket if possible. How much did it cost for freight and in retrospect is there anything you would do differently in hindsite?

cobracraig - Great meeting and speaking with you at SEMA! rumbleseat - Busy busy with Exomotive! Exocet is basically finished, currently waiting on the new VIN plate from the state. Once I receive it the Exocet can be inspected and officially legalized. The last few months have flown by. Between the launch of our website, SEMA, new build plans for 2012 and final preparations for production I have been very busy. Happy to report that our first Exocet orders are being delivered next month. h5ngs - Pretty much done at this point with the exception of installing the mirrors and wings. I owe you guys some updates: Added small amber motorcycle front signals to the mounting bracket. Used some scrap aluminum angle to make a small bracket for the ECU. Shaped the hood where the gauge cluster sits. Harbor Freight comes through again with cheap sanding drums that worked like a charm. I used inexpensive black aluminum hood pins to mount the rear section of the hood, with the front section being secured by two bolts joining the nose and hood. Very simple and minimalist. Readdressed the exhaust midpipe and added a new mount. Very simple with one M10 bolt and the old rubber hangar from the donor. Sourced a custom shift boot that will be fastened permanently after I remove the protective film from the aluminum. All that remains is adding the cycle wings, installing mirrors and mounting the license plate. Initial paperwork has been sent off to the state so they should be issuing a new VIN plate soon. Once I receive the new plate I can rivet it to the chassis and have it inspected, emissions tested, tagged and on the road. Current state: I must say my neighbors have been very understanding of the "crazy black car" being 'tested' on the neighborhood roads.

Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been waiting patiently for the state of Georgia to issue the new vin and surprise surprise, it seems that we have confirmed yesterday that they have lost ALL my paperwork including the original title to the Miata. It's a game now. Can I finish Exocet build #2 before Exocet #1 is road legal? (Note: If you are in the US and reading this, the situation underscores the importance of the states having a proper registration process for kit cars. The SEMA Action Network exists to make sure this happens and have done a great job pushing their Street Rod/Custom Vehicle legislation through certain states (Unfortunately not Georgia yet). It is free to join and your membership grows the size of our cause, making it easier to get legislation passed that makes sense for custom car builders. - www.semasan.org)

Faster than expected, they have found the documentation! A VIN and Title has been assigned. They are waiting on an additional signature and resubmission of the T-129 form, then it should be ready for inspection. Let's hope this takes weeks not months. Either way, progress! Just in time for the nice weather.

Great News! The Exocet has a serial plate! Next step is to rivet this baby onto the Exocet frame and get a local police officer to inspect it. Then more paperwork back to the Department of Revenue. After that I should have a shiny new title in hand, ready for taxation, insurance and finally, a tag.
