I had a little daylight left after attacking the crate with a chainsaw so I decided to do some quick mockups to test fit components. First, I tried out the body panels. Next, I bolted up the front/rear sub frames and steering column. Then laid out the interior panels, stock seat, fuel tank and MSA roll bar. (BTW, the MSA roll bar is amazing.) Front Subframe and steering column Steering Column, Wheel and stock seat Cockpit Fuel Tank Fuel tank and rear sub frame Rear sub frame Mockup Everything fit perfectly. Now to tear it down so the parts can be prepared for the powder coater. I have decided to powder coat everything including the suspension components.

Picked up the frame and suspension today from the powder coater. Went with a gloss black on everything. Very happy with the quality of the work. The donor parts are looking better than ever. Atlanta had some great weather this weekend so I took advantage of the higher temperatures to get some more painting done. Lots of wire wheeling/sanding of the original pieces (BORING!) For paint, I used VHT Roll Bar & Chassis paint which should be safe up to 250 degrees. www.vhtpaint.com/rollbarchassis.html Anti roll bars Anti roll bar end links and mounts Front Hub dust caps More parts came in last week including the new steering rack boots/bellows kit And the new Super Pro poly steering rack bushings Steering rack is officially done. Depowered using the Flyin Miata method, new boots, new inner tie rods, new outer tie rod ends and a plug kit from Miataroadster. Next, flipped the Exocet upside down Then cleaned up the sides of the floor with a file and fit them on the chassis That high gloss powder coating really shines Next up, floor drilling and rivet gun time
