Hello, I'm hoping to keep a sort of diary / build log, if only for my own memories as i embark on this journey. So I had an NB Sport which was the ideal basis for a quicker MX5 for a bit of B-Road and track fun. The "quicker" came about via this.. Which resulted in this... However the rust apparent under the bonnet wasn't just surface rust and I got an advisory on the last MOT, the chassis rails are scrap. At this point i started looking at restoration costs but then stumbled across the Exocet and a silly plan was hatched with the aim of 400bhp per ton in a great handling package. I'm hoping to pick my G-Type parts up soon though there's some work to be done before I'm really ready for it. After a day or so on my own, having done next to no car maintenance before, I'd got this far... I then got a mate round yesterday and we had a good go at the engine bay, most of the ancillaries are largely disconnected or removed and we've got the loom pulled through into the cabin. Amazing learning curve so far, but starting to feel more confident that I/we can pull this off!

Welcome to the forum & the best of luck with the build ! One thing that I find really helpful is reading through peoples build logs. There are some really useful tips in them, I have just finished reading Yorkies build on page 6 or 7.I also subscribe to a you tube channel called pixel armory. They have done a really good video guide.

Welcome ! Really interested by the supercharger setup, is it a rotrex or similar? Never seen one of those type chargers on a 5 before.

Yep, I bought a full conversion kit from Kraftwerks in the US which uses the Rotrex supercharger. Really nice bit of kit with an independent oil cooling and filtration loop. It's also running an MS3 so I'm hoping the electrics should be a bit easier with being able to mess about with the ECU as I need to remove ABS and airbags and get rid of warning lights.

Made a little more progress with an hour after work and no rain, which is a rare thing at the moment....

I think I've made some good progress today with a few hours of time and, more importantly, weather.. Doors and roll bar are off, along with the boot and petrol cap release mechanisms. I've got the main cabin loom and rear looms out, the engine loom has been disconnected and tucked under the bonnet out of any rain. I don't think i've got much more to remove in that area, just the wideband, lambda, chassis earths and ABS sensor wiring if i've spotted all the bits disappearing under the car where i can't reach until i get it up in the air a bit. Just need to start selling some bits, I've got leather seats and various bits that were in the garage taking up my man cave so i can't use my VR racing rig at the moment... Even then, the garage space i'd cleared to get the car in has started to rapidly fill up again...
