Gents (and ladies),
do any of you leave your pride and joy outside with a cover or other protection on? Looking at a second hand MEV and only have a drive.
Any advice and experiences would be great.
Many thanks in advance

Personally I wouldn't, but that's just me and I'm pretty picky, my Rocket is garaged and has never been wet, never driven in the rain and wiped down with a damp cloth. You could keep one outside under a good cover and you'd want it wrapped up really well over winter, one other thing to think about is how safe is where you live? these cars are very exposed and parts can easily be removed/nicked.

cheers for the info dude; I have a small garage at the rear but it would never get up the slope and kerbs and ive got 3 motobikes in there already which suffer very much in any form of damp.
Very safe area low insurnace and crime
have been looking at lots of cars covers. Will keep off rain but not damp from underneath. Was thinking of some form of double wrapping?

If it has to stay outside under a cover then I would coat it with ACF50. Its really good. It comes in cans or refillable spray bottles. I’ve used some from a refill in a spray bottle, it’s thick to go on but protects very well. I don’t think there’s anything much better. images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41%2BcIFpc4TL._SY445_.jpg

There is always a carcoon option. These can generally keep the cars totally dry and free from damp, they just have a little 12v motor in them. This might look a bit random outside your house though Personally I think the garage is the best option although if not possible you could always look at a motorbike shed from Asgard, I had one in my last house and it was perfect, very secure.

Saw one of those carcoon a few years ago in Brooklands in Exeter had an e-type in there. Looks a bit mental and futuristic like out of a 60's sci-fi movie.
Yer motorbike shed(s) could be an option but would have to be at back of house as planning permission required for anything in front of house. Will keep on looking at options; maybe a step down from carcoon?

It can go pretty much anywhere really to stop corrosion and protect components. It’s good stuff that was designed for the military. This is pretty informative......

I keep mine outside under a car cover. I posted pictures and info of the cover I purchased in another post, not sure where. To be honest if you let the air run around under the cover it seems to keep the damp at bay. At worst I've had a small amount of mold begin to grow on steering wheel and the seat belts, but a quick clean soon got rid of that. The cover has expanded some since purchase, hence it gets quite windy under there, but I see that as no bad thing. Worst thing is trying to stop the pools of water forming on the cover - which I generally manage to do, but I've just been away for 2 weeks and had a bigish one to remove on my return, no biggy, just need to keep an eye on it. Security wise it is behind a 7 foot wooden gate, so only time people see it's there is when I drive in and out the drive - they have to have been looking over the wall to know it's there, get it started without waking me. Open the locked gate and move another car infront of that gate to get it out.
So far it really doesn't seem to have affected it much - I'm not the most clued up mechanic in the world. I haven't coated it in anything apart from mud and road crap that I occaisionally wash off it.
Hope that is of some use.
Graham

My concern wouldn't be with them nicking the car, removing the main relay every time you get out solves that problem, (or, you know, a proper immobiliser!) what would worry me is someone nicking the ECU, Koso dash or throttle bodies/trumpets. All easily removed, all with a simple and easy market. Mine is locked in a garage, and I doubt I'll ever walk more than 10m from it when it's finished. Shows must be nerve-wracking for people; I was at the MEV section at Stoneleigh and there was always 1 person 'minding' the flock, but I'd be too paranoid to walk very far from it :/
I live in Dublin though, and while the garage is in a nice area, my house isn't.
