Am approaching the take out of the Steering Column loom with care, as very nervous of damaging something. So apologies for the stupid question!! I've got most of the connectors around the head of the Steering Column loom off, but am left with 2 big connection boxes (1 white, 1 black), which I'm struggling to split open. I've worked out that the, green, slide needs to be pulled horizontolly through the connector - but no luck with separating the separate connector units. Any advice, or is it just brute force? Thanks andy

A vote for a bit of 'gentle persuasion' here. They can be quite tight to split

Thanks for your help.
Does the green 'slider' pull right through or just go to half way - before I give it some umph?
Cheers

Push connector together then pull the green lock pin.. It will not come all the way out.. pull connector apart may need a little wigging don't pull by the wires..

If you take a screw driver, you can put it inside and gently push up on the inside, then switch to the other side etc. Those connectors aren't fun to get apart. Patience....

Guys, I'm failing miserably with this! Has anyone got a photograph of what the connector looks like when its split apart, as I can't even see where the two halfs join and split from.
Thanks for your help.

This is what works for my Pull pin out as far as possible. You should be able to see the 2 parts, slight different plastic colour on mine. by -Tojeiro 74-Turn plug and insert thin screwdriver (with battery disconnected) carefully in slot and push gently from inside You can see mine coming apart, does not need much leverage. by -Tojeiro 74-And 2 pieces by -Tojeiro 74-

Success!!
The connector on our MX 5 (1999) is of a slightly different design. The male unit does not overlap into the slot like on the photo, so you can not push against it. But after seeing the photos I could see that the only way to prise it out is to push a small screw driver between the walls of the male and female unit and gently twist to 'unlock' it.
Thanks again for your help. Was getting a bit frustrated with it!!
