.So our donor car is just about ready to remove the body. Borrowing a hoist on Friday and so should be good to go if the weather is good. Need to do this in the driveway as not enough space in the garage for this bit.
I have a couple of concerns / questions, and would appreciate any advice.
1. We'll Jack it up once on the drive but currently still have the wheels on it. I've tried to locate the 14 bolt points to remove the body but can't find two at the back. I can see the two either side of the wheel by the wishbones. Where is the other? 2. I still need to disconnect the brake pipe frome the wheels. Any issue with just cutting them? Again this is because I've left the wheels in for now. 3. Last one, in the posts it often gets mentioned to loosen the centrally wheel nut. I haven't, is it too late? No brake ability except hand brake left. Any suggestions?
cheers
Pete

Hi Pete, sounds like your doing fine, 1, I have pictures of my rear sub frame on my build page that might help? 2, no issue with cutting brake lines as you will probably replace them. 3, as for central wheel nut I managed to get mine of after by using a spanner you need one bigger than the wheel stud but smaller than the wheel nut. I put the ring end on the wheel stud and used a wheel nut, tightened it up and clamped the ring spanner to the hub to stop me from damaging the threads. then used another wheel nut on the opposite stud to put he spanner against again to stop me damaging the threads then wedge against the floor so the hub cant turn. now get a strong bar and socket with a piece of pipe on the end for leverage and it will come of quite easily good luck

Hi Pete
1. The 6 bolts holding the rear subframe on are lined up 3 in a row on each side. Two are nuts and the middle one is a bolt on each side, all about 2-3 inches apart.
2. I guess you will be replacing the brake lines so you can just cut them.
3. I would loosen the hub nuts before you remove the body as its even more difficult afterwards. Handbrake should be enough. Plenty of WD40 and a massive breaker bar.
Hope this helps Tim

Hand brake and a block of wood should be enough to stop wheel spin.. Don't forget the unstake the nut from the axle..
