Just had an exhaust fitted which im in love with! Will Mr IVA check the exhaust tips for a 2.5mm radius? If so it will fail If they are going to check the tips is there a clever/simple way of trimming them other than bash the edges in with a hammer

We had rolled edges on our exhaust when it was made

I'm thinking of buying 4 cheap muffler ends and cutting the rounded end off to put over the current exhaust tips Still open to any simpler ideas!

It looks great BUT the rule of 2.5 mm radius on contactable parts applies to all inc the exhaust. OK if a passer by gets burnt on it but no good if you have rad's of less than 2.5 mm on the tail pipes AND the can itself which looks sharpish. Maybe put the Mazda one on for the test. Does yours comply with noise requirements? It seems to be open both ends which does not leave much room for silencing. Max is 99dBA. Check below as you have more than one outlet.
From the IVA manual; With the sound meter horizontal, set the microphone height so that it is at the height of
the exhaust outlet or 200mm from the ground, whichever is higher.
At an angle of 45 degrees and a distance of 500mm from the exhaust outlet.
With the vehicle at normal operating temperature, run the engine at ¾
of its ‘maximum power’ speed, and note the sound level reading
obtained.
The exhaust may have several outlets up to 300mm apart
connected to the same silencer. In this instance the microphone must
face the outlet closest to the vehicle contour or highest from the
ground. In all other cases, separate measurements must be taken for
each exhaust outlet; the highest value obtained is the test value.

Great, one more thing to have to faf about with, but it makes no sense, as the standard mx5 exhaust pipe has exactly the same tip on the pipe albeit only one, it's not rounded off its a standard pipe?

But the MX5 does not go through IVA. We do sell an IVA compatible stainless exhaust to solve the issue. £199
