Hi Keith This has been discussed in a couple of threads already, have a search and you should find the previous answers. For the short answer to your question, the rear extension is too long and will need modifying to fit the car. Get the body where you want it, including height and cut to fit.
I am a bit of a distance to you but you are welcome to check out my build if you are ever in Cheshire.

Had to cut mine also. I was also not happy with the general stiffness of the rear brace and need to remove every time to take the body on and off so I have started to fab up a new lower section. This is being made from square tube which will have a sandwich plate welded on the end to connect the existing piece of rear brace that bolts to the shell. Made it longer at the bottom so will bolt to both existing holes in rear subframe. by -Tojeiro 74-Just waiting on some steel plate arriving before I weld it all up. Been away on holiday and travelling on business next week but if you keep an eye on my build it should be finished in next couple of weeks.

Not had much time but made some progress. Cut the sandwich plates from steel plate, even with proper steel cutting blades it gave my jigsaw a good work out. by -Tojeiro 74-Finished welding up rear part, fitted this first as it sets all the distances and angles for the front section. The rear plate is tilted a couple of degrees off vertical so at I can lift the body off without obstruction. by -Tojeiro 74-Also cut and welded both new lower square section rails after lots of measuring and double checking angle and spacing. Will drill the subframe mounting holes once all the fabrication work is finished. by -Tojeiro 74- by -Tojeiro 74-Welding not the best but it's been 20 years so bit more practice is needed. Not going to be seen and its strong because I stood on it afterward and it didn't crack. by -Tojeiro 74-Just need to weld on the original upper tubes to finish off but away again on business for a few days so need to wait for the finished article. by -Tojeiro 74-Will probably get all the bits powdercoated later and may remove some metal from the centre of both plates to reduce some weight. Decided to leave this section in this thread and just add a link in my build diary, thought it might be easier for others to find that way. By product of this mod is you get a bit more space for the exhaust backbox.
