Hello all, Figured I'd go ahead and document some of my build here as well. I've been a Miata guy since 2001, always with the 'air brakes'. I tried years ago to build my own tube chassis with Miata subframes, got a long ways into the process, but life got in the way and the project was scrapped.
My donor is a 1990 I bought a few years ago as someone else's stalled project (never again). Found all kinds of problems and hacks and just really stupid things done I had to fix. I got the car sorted after way more work and money than it deserved. You know how sometimes you get into a project and you realize you're too deep, so you keep going deeper? lol, that's what I was doing. So then what do i decide to do after I got it reliable and sorted? Scrap it to build the Exocet of course, lol. The engine came from my previous '92 Miata that I had rebuilt, and the trans was replaced from an '95. Still running the stock rear. Plans later once I get road worthy and legal is turbo and maybe use that Megasquirt collecting dust on my parts shelf...
I'm currently putting a webpage together to have my build in 1 location, but for now here's the FB thread. Going forward I'll post here a bit more as well. I've been lurking following a lot of your builds
