Our Exocet has BC Racing coilovers. With 10mm chopped off the rear bump stops the rear dampers have maximum travel of 50mm net of the bump stops. 949 Racing reckon an MX5 ride height should be around 4 inches from the floor to the sill pinch weld. On my Mk1 MX5 the floor is getting on for 1 inch higher than the sill pinch weld. So.....we set the ride height on our Exocet such that the car floor is approximately 5 inches off the ground. If we have no preload on the rear springs, the static weight of the Exocet compresses those springs by about be 20mm, leaving around 30mm of bump travel. With these settings the clearance between the rear top wishbones and the chassis is about 35mm. So a rear damper might hit its bump stop just before the chassis hits a rear top wishbone. Do these dimensions and measurements ring a bell with any other Exocet owners please? Or have we got the car set up incorrectly? Many thanks for any responses.
