Very curious what your solution was for the oil pan/subframe. I'm about done with an Ecotec swap on my 99 Miata. I used the V8 Roadsters subframe in order to get proper clearance for the exhaust. In a Miata, IMO, it's a mistake not to. There just isn't room to run a proper down pipe. I'm wondering if that's different in the Exocet because of the tube frame.

Well I ended up getting the oil pan and engine mounts from ecotec miata and for now am running the stock miata subframe although I have yet to route an exhaust. Looks like its going to be a tight fit, so we will see. Another issue is the AR5 trans is bigger than the miata counterpart so I don't know how low the cross over is going to be...

Thanks for the update.
The clearance you get from the V8 Roadsters subframe is substantial. I have enough room in my Miata to run a 2.5in downpipe from the header, under the oil pan in front of the transmission then back to the exhaust. Yea, that subframe is expensive at $800 but, IMO, well worth the price considering how much space it opens up.

It's been awhile but she's running and legal for the street. This thing absolutely rips even with the 3.42 gears. I'll get some recent photos up ASAP but I had a blast running through the North GA mountains the other week.

I just ended up using the ecotec Miata mounts and pan. Not sure if I mentioned in previous posts but with the ar5 trans attached the shifter lined up almost center and you can also use the solstice driveshaft if you have the getrag diff.
