So finally got around to starting a thread. I've had this kit for about a year and decided it was time to start to put I together. After buying and selling a complete (kinda) exocet I felt it was best to build my own. (Good luck with that one Sparky!) I bought an Exocet XSr with running gear but felt the running gear was a little on the dodgy unknown side, so purchased from another forum member some lovely running gear, freshly powder coated and nearly ready to go. I have enlisted the help of 4 friends and we have turned this into a Thursday evening ritual. (So please don't expect anything quick here!) 2 of these friends are fully skilled BMW techs. Which should help!! So far we I've got the running gear put back together and everything tightened up!! More will follow!!

So a few questions.. as I bought this half started, there is a bit missing so....
1: What brake pipe do I need and roughly how long a length? (I have flaring tools etc)
2: Can anyone list the bolt kit that would have come with the frame? (Yup, this wasn't there either!!)
3: what size fuel pipe are people using and is the flow and return the same size?
Hoping to get the frame piped up in the next few weeks ready to fit to the rolling sub frames.

Should be 3/16 for brakes and 5/16 for fuel. Both return and flow is same size. I used cunnifer ( copper / nickle ) line for everything.

If you get a 25ft roll of each 3/16 & 5/16 you should be fine as long as you don't scrap any.

Next question is what is this plug with the green leads that comes from the ignition switch?

Hmmm could be? We just couldn't find a plug to fit it last. Ohhh. Will have another look!!

Ive also seen somewhere that it might be a key lock for auto cars. If the car isn't in park then it won't release the key, maybe that's why we can't find a plug to go into it. As the car is a manual??

So another Thursday night with progress made. Decided to get some wheels on the subframes and drop it to the ground, only had enough bits of metal to hold front wishbones, so used a ratchet strap for the rear! Also managed to run the Cupro Fuel and Brake lines along the Frame. How the hell did all that take 3 hours?!?! Happy with results and should be mounting the frame to the subframes next week, unless anyone can think of something that we might have missed?

Also decided to run with the Bilsteins that I bought, instead of shelling out loads of cash on new coilovers.. Bit grubby to start with... So one of the 5 idiots decided to take them to his work (BMW Dealer!) and came back with the following: These are now being painted by another one of the 5 (I might start numbering each of us to make things easier!!) And we should have decent looking shocks by the end of this. I am going to run the springs that came with the shocks, and if I feel the car could do with lowering then I will go the route of the 40mm lowered springs Stuart recommends....

Were did you run your fuel brake tubing.. On the car frame top or bottom or on the PPF..

We ran it along the side of the frame on the inside of the tunnel. Had looked at a few builds and this seemed the preferred choice.

OK it was hard to tell from pic..Make sure the tubes are above the lower edge of the frame rail so not to get rubbed by road trash. If below and must stay there you might fasten a long piece of alum stock 1 1/2" x 1/8" on bottom of frame to shield tubes.
