I'm trying to install my headlights but I'm having an issue with grounding. It appears that both units ground through the housings. I'm not sure if this is by design or an issue with my units, but without isolation/insulation between the light housings and the car frame it will short out and blow fuses. The lights work great on the bench, but pop the fuse when mounted.
What have the other installers done to correct this?

I used large nylon washers to isolate from the frame, worked a treat

I have Dominator lights, not sure if they are 2.0 though.
They were grounded traditionally, not through the housing.
If they are different I hope they've improved the lighting performance because they were not great and the beam pattern was marginal to say the least.

Do you have pictures? Having an issue with mine in terms of getting the bright indicator to work.
Both sides should ground, and you can leverage the stock ground for each side. On the 1999 it's a flat plastic piece that several other wires tap into. Leverage that back to a ground bar (SeanW build thread has good pics).
My lights are mounted on metal washers and to metal brackets, surprised it'd be the housing. Are both headlight fuses popping or just 1 side?

I found out one night that my Dominators would ground through the light body but not in a good way in terms of brightness.
I made a change and had disconnected the passenger side ground wires from the chassis, the light came on but was very dim (even for a Dominator) so grounding must have been happening but very badly.
To be honest though I would be surprised if body grounding was a design feature at all.

Do you have a wire print out.. FYI.. There are 2 fuses for the head lights L/R in the inside box.. Power from fuses to headlamps Left is R/Y wire at light.. Right is G wire.. These are the only power to lamps.. The other wires to each lamp Left and Right are Red LOW White High.. These wires supply the Ground to switch low to high beam.. They come from the head light switch.. Make sure the Black wire on the head light switch is grounded good to the frame use OHM meter This wire setup is 180 from the NA headlamp wiring..
