It's a long shot I know but does anyone have an unused MEV production chassis for sale that I can use as a refference for the new builds.
Cheers

I know a guy who has a rolling chassis that he doesn't have time to build, is this what you are looking for?

Yes that is a possibility. I am the new owner of all the original manufacturing equipment purchased from Brimoto and am looking for a chassis for reference but would consider a rolling chassis. I would prefer one of the original MEV produced ones ( asking a lot I know) but will consider others.

Good to hear we have someone going to carry on producing the rockets. Welcome. Sadly no idea about a chassis.

I hope to start producing body parts from the moulds in the new year as well as smaller laser cut parts along with suspension items like the wishbones. The chassis jig is being used to make several chassis's while a new more accurate jig is designed to improve the process. I am also looking into fitting the Honda, Toyota, Rover K series and possibly the VAG 1.8 turbo at a later stage. In addition I have a body panel designer looking at the possibility of producing an enclosed body with a modified engine cover incorporating the rear wheel arches with air scoops for oil, water and charge cooler/intercooler. While all that is being organised we will try and produce the original car "kit" and support those people that want "original" spare parts made from the genuine moulds and jigs.

Sounds great. It would be a good idea to figure out how to make the pieces people wreck readily or need to replace first (wings, uprights, wishbones, engine cover). That could fund the longer-term stuff like making better bits. Seems like the previous owners got buried in improvements and never turned out a single working part.
I cheaped out on camber-adjustable wishbones for example, which is something I'm about to pay dearly for as I've got to set my car up with washers and by dismantling my uprights.

The idea is to have consumable parts ready on the shelf and as you say that will in turn help fund everything else. As for Brian at Brimoto he never intended to go into mass production with the kit. He did complete 3 chassis's for people but purchased the kit in order to build a Toyota powered car with a longer cockpit which is exactly what he achieved with a complete chassis. If all goes well it will not be long before the "Orignal" Rocket kit is available with the options regarding engines coming along at stages. The Rover K series will be first as the later car's used the IB5 gearbox so a fairly simple swap with the option of the PG1 box then being added. If all goes well then a MK2 will be on the cards.

The ST170 engine is super sweet and seems to work well with the IB5.

Yes it is a good engine. I have done a lot of development on the Rover K series turbo over the last 6 years. We are now getting over 330bhp on standard internals using the vvc head with reliability on what is a very light engine. The new Ecotech's loo an interesting option as well
