Any time you are using a shock and spring combo that would lower the height of a stock Miata. The Exocet frame is designed to sit lower with stock Miata springs and shocks, without the spacers the Exocet sits way too low when using most aftermarket suspension. Or if you want some extra ride-height on stock suspension, maybe. Take a look at my build for photos before and after I installed the spacers on my car. ( mevowners.proboards.com/post/89545/thread ) I really wish I'd ordered them with my kit in the first place. Even if I hadn't needed them for my coilover setup, having them on hand would make future suspension upgrades and changes easier/quicker if going from stock Miata bits to aftermarket bits.

Thanks....that's very useful. What is your ride height, please, with the shock spacers? After being used to measuring the ride height of MX5s from the wheel centre to the wheel arch I'm struggling to learn of a universal way of measuring an Exocet's ride height. 949 Racing tend to measure MX5 ride height from the floor to the sill pinch weld, but I'm unsure of which part of an MX5 the Exocet floor was designed to correspond to.

FWIW, I am running NB Koni Sport shocks w/ 6" springs (8kg/mm F and 5kg/mm rear) and no spacers on my car, and the spacers aren't needed. I will measure the height from the jacking pads next time I am out in the garage, but the front lower control arms are right at being level. ~-2.2* front camber

Thanks....that's very helpful. The measurements would be most welcome. As an aside, do you track your Exocet on the Koni Sports?

When really bombing through some local canyons, the sub frame scrapes. What brand springs are you running?
