Hey Bob, Julie told me you were down on the Thursday, pity we missed each other but my collection date was unsure until last minute due to travel. Stuart must have ran out of Champagne boxes by Friday, I did however get a nice Scottish Ribbon decoration.

I would ask for a partial refund if you didn't get your box of champagne.

Tonight was a little bit more work. (Small steps) Got the front driver's side suspension mostly dismantled and removed the power steering rack with all it's hoses. It turns out that rusty old split pins disintegrate when you go near them so that wasn't too much of an issue, the problem was getting the tre out of the hub. Much battering later and it dropped out. I've got myself a ready de-powered refurbished rack ready to drop in so that means I can get rid of all the powered stuff. I take it I can just ditch the power steering motor and the belt? Moved my frame around a little to give myself a little more working room, so managed to give the subframe a little more paint. Reasonably productive night.

Front all stripped and garage cleared a bit. Time to get cooking some bushes. 10mins each side enough?

FYI.. You might want to get a small bag of cat litter to put on the oil spots on floor work in with a broom let sit over night. If not oil soaked put waste in a container to use again.. go to body shop and get some cardboard that a bonnet comes in and put under the build to save the floor..

It's not oil though, it's a multitude of coolant and the occasional bit of brake fluid. I plan to clean the floor properly after I have my roller skate back together and can roll it out of there.

It's been a slow start to the year with everything going on in my family. I got my wishbones powdercoated and I'm not sure if I was expecting better, but they are not perfect. Tbh the state of them when I dropped them off was horrific so they are miles better than they were and will look fine when on the car. The guy said he had to do multiple coats and put it on quite thick to try and smooth out the finish slightly. I bought an LSD (just the inner part) a while back and needed to fit it so set about splitting my open diff. Had a problem with one of the bolt which chewed. I managed to get it out without too much hassle which never happens to me. I had no idea what I was doing and there didn't seem to be a guide anywhere. So I just did my usual style of winging it and it didn't seem to difficult. After re-assembly I gave it my usual Stevie Wonder quality paint job. Have painted my subframes and got my poly bushes. I had a small setback for a couple of weeks when I lost the instruction sheet telling me which bush was which 🙄. Found it today so, decided to push in some bushes while sitting watching the TV tonight after I put my daughter to bed. Hopefully I should get the rest pushed in tomorrow and start to assemble my doner again.

So progress has been a little slow down to illness in the family and various other work/life balance issues. I also seemed to lose a bunch of nuts from when I stripped the car and couldn’t find them again. :/
The doner roller-skate is almost back together. Just the front hubs to connect and then it’ll be frame time. Getting the PPF connected to the front and rear while it was on the deck was a bit of a crappy job but I got there in the end.
I’ll soon be marking out the floor and getting ready to cut. Does anyone have any tips or approaches I should know about before tackling this job? Also, what have people used in between the floor and the frame to stop it rattling?

The roller skate is now all back together. 👏🏼
Marked out the floor tonight ready to cut. I've decided to stick some very thin rubber to the floor before fitting it for a couple of reasons. I'm not convinced I like the bare metal look and it should help stop the metal on metal rattle that people have been talking about.
The rubber should arrive later in the week so I'll hopefully have some more progress then.

This morning was my chance to cut the floor. Usually I work on the car after my daughter has gone to bed, so cutting metal with a jigsaw outside her bedroom window wasn't really achievable. Today the sun is out so decided to go for it. I'm a bit of a hashy bodger when it comes to this kind of thing so was a bit apprehensive but it started off well Well that wasn't so difficult. Used the advice of the forum and sprayed it all with wd40. Got my rubber sheet earlier in the week. (2m x 1.4m x 1.5mm) so laid the cutout floor on the rubber and marked round it. All cut out and ready to be stuck down. 👍💪 Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it stuck down and then fitted to the frame.
