I am building an Exocet up on a 1999 donor. I am using an EcotecMiata kit to run a 2.4 run on throttle bodies. Given the VVT this will be using Megasquirt 3 /MS3Pro I want to run the standard instrument cluster.
Do I need to keep the original ECU in parallel to run any of the stuff in the pod or can I rip it all out and just run two looms: one for the lights and fuel gauge etc and the other Megasquirt harness for the engine related stuff...
thanks beardy

No need for the original ECU. The loom that controls Miata cluster isn't the same as the ECU loom.

that makes life a lot more simple. I guess there is a tacho signal and the ECU needs to control the fuel pump, but everything else is separate... so just pull the ECU and the three green plugs and systematically remove all the wires. Many thanks!
