Right guys, I know this has been asked before, mainly because I've asked it, but unfortunately the suggestions I've had wont work in my circumstances. I need to buy wheel spacers (big ones) The best suggestion I had was to put 2mm washers on the bolts and keep packing out until the wheels fit perfect and then you know the spacer size based on the number of 2mm washers, simple The problem is, I got 8 washers on (16mm) and the wheels still needed spacing out, but there is no more thread on the bolt to allow me to hold the wheel in place to check the clearance. So i know I need a spacer bigger than 16mm, but how can I work out exactly what I need, they are to expensive to guess. These are the wheels: www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/calibre/motion-2/black-red/15-inchThanks everyone.

Obtain the correct design specification offset and buy a spacer that makes the combined wheel/spacer offset match this.
Eg the Rocket is 35mm (some say 38 though) I bought some wheels with a 53 off set so the perfect spacer, in theory, is 18mm.
However, just to add a twist, a spacer that thick would actually need to be an adaptor, ie carrying it's own bolts. A simple spacer would not leave enough original stud thread protruding to be safe.
In this case an 18mm spacer is thick enough to space but too thin to enclose all of the original stud length which would then have fouled the wheel. Some wheels have pockets in the back to prevent this being an issue.
My solution was to use 25mm adaptors, thick enough to cover the studs and keep the resulting offset close to design, 28 instead of 35.

Simples; Aim for zero offset. If your wheels have a 30 Et (offset) aim for 30mm spacers.

I got 20mm spacers set (4) for £55 and they work great. My donor wheels are et45 and i reckon that even going for a wider tyre that I can go down to et20 wheels

Just checked and a 25mm spacer is cheaper and takes the offset to ET13 which i think is fine as the guide states ET15 is also fine.
Think Ill go for the 25mm spacer, need to start saving money somewhere, especially as we are moving home at the moment as well :S

When ordering custom spacers from us, give us a few weeks notice I don't like letting customers down, but a lot of the stuff we make is bespoke so takes time.

Turns out the wheels they sent are actually 40mm offset so ordered 40mm spacers from freaky parts at £165 including delivery, that should take the wheels to zero offset. Fingers crossed all goes well
