Hi everyone,
Ive just purchased the MEV radiator mounting kit and I am waiting for it to be delivered.
Having done a quick search im getting mixed reviews.
Has anyone used this kit with a MK2 radiator? Stuart advises it will fit the rad but may need a little adjusting to get it to fit in the right location on the chassis which is fine.
Would it be easier to just buy a MK1 radiator and fit that instead? Is that ok to do? Will it make a difference to the fitting kit?
Cheers

Shane,
Interested to know if this works - I looked at these and page says not compatible with MKII version so didn't bother. Just going to use donor rad and use the bracket to mount the bonnet.

Yes im guessing thats the whole point This radiator will not fit on a MK2 as the fixings are on the side and the Mk2 rad fixings are on the top. The brackets appear to be made using the MK1 Rad where the fixings are on the side of the rad. Fingers crossed my theory is right otherwise ive just blown £100

Update... Received the new MK1 Rad and brackets from MEV. Unfortunately its not a ready made solution, although not much work is needed. As you can see on the photo the holes on the brackets are just off, I need to make the top hole (left of photo) oval shaped to allow the bracket to slide down a little so that the bracket doesn't catch on the rad and the bottom hole (right of picture) will line up, hopefully I wont need to start bending anything. Not a huge deal but just so expectations are realistic, its not a straight bolt on job, however I think it should be?

Had too open up the top hole and straighten out the bottom of the bracket but managed to get it to fit, just need a few longer bolts to hold it on properly. Going to spray it over the weekend and hopefully get it fitted to the chassis For anyone searching, for future reference, this is a brand new NA (MK1) Radiator, these brackets will NOT fit a MK2 radiator. My donor is a MK2, the radiators are identical in size and pipes etc, the only difference as mentioned above, is the way they fit.

Do they do them without the letters cut in them? Seems a lot of money for a couple of bits of bent steel to me! Especially as they need 'adjusting to fit'

Not sure if the do without letters, and I agree, alot off money and still needs adjusting with a hammer! The reason I wanted them is I will be 100% confident the rad is securely fitted as my steel bending skills are none existent, and Im not convinced ally would flex.
Also it gives me the option to hinge the bonnet without having to figure it all out.

With how you have the rad fitted to the bracket in these photos have you put it to the chassis? If I put mine like that on it is not wide enough, I'm having to make some spacers

Like mikeeboy my bracket is too narrow once fitted to the rad . If I fit it with no spacers the bonnet / nose hits on the bracket so I had to space it off the passenger side by about 10 months bonnet then fits ok , I assume it is made this way to allow for differences in the nose / chassis measurement mine is the twin nose by the way

Yeah, I held it in place and it seems wide enough, although holding it as close to the top as possible still seems a little low? Ive emailed Stuart for his opinion on the height.

I'm guessing that he was taking £48 +VAT plus the £35 for his radiator that he bought to make this solution work on a mk2. Best part of £100.
