Competed in the club hill climb last Sunday, first day out with the new Dunlop DZ03g Soft tyres. Ran the front at 18psi and the rear at 20psi. It was raining HARD when I left home and looked like it had set in for the day but there is too much fun to be had to let a little wet stuff stop me. First run, was very nervous because of the rain with the new tyres but they held me on nicely and I finished mid-field without drama. After that the day got better and better, sun came out and dried the road off apart from a few patches under trees. Each run saw me knock appreciable time off but then again it did so for everyone else as well! I was hoping for a sub 2:00 minute final run and did 2:00:56 Whilst I still ended up mid field a bunch of us had very close times in the middle of the pack. I also picked off completely the guy who previously had been finishing one place in front of me so that done I have a new target in sight, he beat me this time by 2 seconds. Lots of room for improvement, I feel I am reaching a speed that allows me to ease off as I approach the corners rather than going harder and then hard braking for the corners. Will be concentrating on improving my driving and playing around with handling to see what I can squeeze out next month. Need to learn to 'Toe and Heel'

Ouch! They were pretty calm about it all considering the speed and where the post hit the car Martin

The pain came later with the very public extraction of EVERY brownie point he had ever earnt, including the ones hidden down the back of the couch, by his partner when he returned to the start Car was written off, now only suitable for circle track racing (in the wrong direction) due to having a shorter wheelbase on the driver side. Serious injury was prevented by the roll cage though, big bend in it showing the forces it absorbed!
