Hi All I have noticed that my car gets up to temperature very quick its a mk1 1.6 1990 temp vague never goes above half way but when i switch off the car after driving and turn the key 1 turn the fan will run then it switches its self off am i thinking that the radiator needs replacing to an uprating as i haven't had this with any car that i have owned before if radiator does need uprating what is the best to go for

The fan will stay on as long as ignition is on, and the temperature at the switch is above 210 (don't know exact number off hand)
On stock power you should be fine with the stock radiator, especially in an Exocet. That doesn't mean nothing is Wrong with yours.
I use a aftermarket temp gauge now, which gives real values. If you have a thermocouple on a multimeter, you can skip it under the radiator hoses to get real temp.

Thanks Jon was getting worried I do see that some people have aluminium rads with 2 fans in there cars so was wondering if there was an issue with the basic rad

Plus 1 for Jon post.. All normal.. You could mount the AC radiator fan and wire it into 1st rad or put it in a switch on dash if starting to run hot, if you are in a hot area.. If using an OEM radiator if the top tank is turning brown then green it is on its way out it should be black.. For a DD not heavy racing I would get a radiator for an automatic trans car it is 1/2 bigger then manual ones. just cap off the hose stems.. To install an alum. rad. you might have to mod the fan housing some to clear the front sway bar. Easy job.
