I fitted a new clutch today and after several attempts to refit the gear box I finally succeeded. As it is still in the build stsge it's not connected to a clutch pedal. My question is, how hard should it be to push the release lever as it won't move unless I use a pry bar which seems a bit excessive. Thanks in advance Dave

I'm assuming the transmission and engine are already mated. The release lever is really stiff on mine. I can't move it by hand. Remember you have some good mechanical advantage with the clutch pedal and the clamping force has to grip the clutch plate against all the power of the engine.

Yep, gearbox attached just seemed to take a lot of force to move it and didn't want to have to remove it again at a later date

With the arm on the pivot ball you should have a small amount of movement in the arm just enough to hear it click to the plate. After that you are working against the springs in the plate. You did clean the front cover and lube the inside of the throw out bearing collar.. no rust on splines.. Look into the hole if all is still on ball and TB in place you should be good to go..
