Having now unpacked all the boxes this half started kit came in, I have no V5 for the original MX5 and the previous owner seems to be ignoring my calls/texts so..
What issues will I have not having the V5, and can I apply for one even though I don't have a chassis number of the previous vehicle?

I think you can apply to Dvla for a replacement v5 may take a few weeks as they will contact last keeper and ask if he has any interest in the car . You will need ref no and i think cost is £25
I sold a car with no v5 Dvla contacted me ref interest in car

Have just looked at the form and it seems you need the VIN number, of which I don't have as I only have the subrame part of the MX5.
Maybe best to just get another MX5 and transfer to the details from that!

In the USA the VIN is also on the engine block right side.. don't know about the UK..

Have managed to get hold of the previous keeper and he is posting the v5 out to me. So hopefully problem solved!!
